Location: Boone, North Carolina | Full-Time | 7:00am to 7:00pm

Compensation: $23.19 per hour, based on education, experience, and internal equity

Shift Differentials: Eligible for applicable shifts

Perform a variety of laboratory tests and procedures to assist physicians in diagnosing and treating patients

Analyze bodily fluids, tissues, and other specimens using approved laboratory techniques

Accurately prepare and report laboratory results in accordance with established standards

Maintain detailed documentation and laboratory records
-
Ensure proper specimen handling, labeling, and processing
-
Adhere to quality control protocols and safety procedures
-
Maintain laboratory equipment and report technical concerns appropriately
-
Collaborate with laboratory and healthcare team members to ensure timely and accurate results
-
Follow all hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and standards of behavior
-
Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related field
-
Previous experience in a clinical laboratory setting preferred
-
MLT certification through an accredited testing agency (e.g., ASCP) preferred but not required
-
Strong communication skills and ability to work within the chain of command
-
Ability to process specimens safely and accurately within legal and policy guidelines
-
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
-
Ability to utilize laboratory computer systems and type at least 25 WPM
-
Commitment to exceptional customer service and patient-centered care
-
Frequent standing and walking for extended periods (≥ 8 hours per shift)

Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to and greater than 50 pounds
-
Frequent bending, squatting, twisting, and reaching
-
Continuous manual dexterity and close eye work

Regular exposure to bloodborne pathogens
-
Exposure to chemicals, laboratory reagents, and biological specimens

Possible exposure to ionizing and non-ionizing radiation

Subject to irregular hours including nights, weekends, holidays, and emergencies

Required adherence to infection control and safety protocols
