Job Overview

Volution Development Group is looking for a driven and detail-oriented Assistant Project Manager (APM) to support the execution of high-quality commercial construction projects across Houston. This role is ideal for someone with 25 years of experience in commercial constructionespecially in retail, restaurants, tenant improvements, and ground-up retail centerswho is eager to grow into a leadership role. As an APM, youll assist Project Managers with planning, subcontractor coordination, budgeting, and project documentation. Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Project Manager in planning and scheduling commercial construction projects.

  • Coordinate subcontractor sourcing, bid solicitation, and onboarding.

  • Support project budgeting, estimating, and cost tracking processes.

  • Interpret and manage construction drawings, scopes, and specs.

  • Conduct routine site visits to ensure quality control, safety, and schedule adherence.

  • Communicate with clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to align project objectives.

  • Manage RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, and project documentation.

  • Utilize construction software (Buildertrend or similar) for real-time tracking and reporting.

  • Assist in managing change orders, contract compliance, and issue resolution.

  • Contribute to the teams goal of delivering projects on time, on budget, and with excellence.

Qualifications
  • 25 years of commercial construction experience (retail/restaurant projects preferred).

  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and codes.

  • Proficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specs.

  • Experience managing subcontractors and participating in the bidding process.

  • Budgeting and estimating exposure preferred.

  • Familiarity with construction management software (Buildertrend a plus).

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Valid drivers license and reliable transportation required.

Schedule
