ABOUT THE ROLE:

Reporting to the Associate Vice President (AVP), Human Resources, the Manager, Human Resources is a dynamic leader who helps to shape a people-centric, service-driven HR experience across the institution. The role blends strategic insight with operational execution, ensuring HR policies and initiatives are aligned with evolving institutional needs.

Partnering with leaders, staff, and faculty, the Manager acts as a trusted business partner delivering high-quality HR support. The Manager will also provide day-to-day operational leadership to the HR team, fostering a collaborative and nimble environment, while advancing continuous improvement and service delivery.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and oversee daily HR operations ensuring efficient, high-quality, and employee-focused service delivery to a client group of approximately 250 employees including staff and faculty.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and direction to a team of three HR members.
  • Establish clear workflows, accountability, and service standards across all HR functions including learning and development, talent acquisition, payroll, labour relations, job evaluation, compensation and employee communications.
  • Support the execution of HR strategies aligned with institutional priorities.
  • Lead and execute the talent acquisition process for management level roles.
  • Conduct job evaluations, create job descriptions and drive best practices and research within the compensation area.
  • Translate strategic direction into operational plans, programs, and outcomes.
  • Advise leaders and employees on HR policies, procedures, and collective agreements.
  • Support employee relations activities, including grievance handling and preparation for bargaining.
  • Promote employee engagement, inclusion, and retention strategies.
  • Act as a trusted advisor and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identify and drive overall process improvement opportunities and optimization projects within the HR function.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • CHRL designation required, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 – 7 years of progressive HR experience across multiple functions, including leadership responsibilities and partnering with senior leaders.
  • Experience in a unionized environment considered an asset.
  • Strong ability to collaborate and lead effectively within diverse teams, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
  • Proven experience leading and implementing projects.
  • Proven high ethical standards and ability to make decisions in the best interest of the institution while managing risk.
  • Experience resolving conflicts and addressing disagreements in a constructive manner.
  • Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse cultural and social dynamics within the institution.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with a genuine passion for creating a positive work culture at all levels.

Salary commensurate with experience: $80,000 to $90,000 per year

This is a full time, onsite role in London, Ontario with a strong total rewards package including a defined contribution pension plan.
