About This Position

The Department of Dermatology seeks academic-minded dermatologists and dermatopathologists, holding an MD or DO, to join our full-time faculty at the rank of Assistant Professor, outside of the tenure stream, to provide comprehensive evaluation and management of dermatologic conditions. Responsibilities include the diagnosis and treatment of a broad spectrum of skin, hair, nail, and mucosal disorders; performance of dermatologic examinations and procedures; development of individualized treatment plans; and ongoing management of acute and chronic skin diseases. The physician will order and interpret appropriate diagnostic tests, manage follow‑up care, and refer patients to other specialists when indicated. The position also includes responsibility for preventative dermatologic care, such as skin cancer screenings, counseling on sun protection, and age‑appropriate dermatologic assessments and surveillance.

Our department serves a diverse, medically complex population within the greater Pittsburgh area, while also drawing patients from throughout Pennsylvania and the tri-state area. The expansive University of Pittsburgh/UPMC campus includes 40 hospitals, 800 outpatient clinical locations, and an international healthcare presence. The Department of Dermatology sees patients in our seven clinics, providing services that include general dermatology, phototherapy, laser, Mohs micrographic surgery, and aesthetic services, as well as inpatient consultations. Our Dermatopathology unit is onsite in our Oakland campus, with four full-time dermatopathologists and two dermatopathology fellows. Our teledermatology program provides synchronous and asynchronous care to patients throughout the state, is utilized for inpatient consults and in-office e-consults with community physicians. Additionally, we have opportunities for clinical research and collaboration with clinical and basic science colleagues on campus available to those with a research interest.
