Position Overview
Atlanta Public Schools (APS) is seeking a School Support Field Technician to provide first-line, desk-side technical support across assigned schools and administrative locations. This role supports teachers, staff, and students by diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, device, and network issues while ensuring reliable technology operations.
Provide on-site technical support for hardware, software, and network issues.
Monitor and resolve support tickets using Incident IQ.
Maintain Chromebook carts, student devices, and computer labs.
Troubleshoot interactive whiteboards, digital signage, printers, and Kronos devices.
Install and update Windows, macOS, ChromeOS, and iOS devices.
Support wireless connectivity and basic network troubleshooting.
Assist with IT deployments, AV events, and standardized testing readiness.
Maintain accurate asset tracking and documentation.
Escalate complex issues to Lead Field Technician or IT Manager.
Coordinate with vendors, IT teams, and school technology contacts.
Retrieve parts or equipment from the APS IT Warehouse when required.
3+ years of IT support or field technician experience
CompTIA A+ Certification (Required)
Experience with desk-side and break/fix support
Mobile device support: Chromebooks, iPads, macOS, iOS
Basic understanding of network infrastructure and wireless troubleshooting
Experience with ticketing systems (Incident IQ preferred)
Strong customer service, communication, and documentation skills
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Must pass fingerprint background check
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Associate degree in IT or related field
Experience supporting technology in K-12 or educational environments
On-site, Monday–Friday
Hours may vary depending on school schedules and events
Work performed at APS schools and district facilities across Metro Atlanta
