Digital News Producer – WDRB Media | Louisville, KY

WDRB Media is seeking a Digital News Producer with strong writing and editorial skills to join our growing digital newsroom. This position plays a key role in shaping daily news coverage across digital, broadcast, and social platforms. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable making sound editorial decisions in a fast-paced news environment.

This role requires a journalist who can think strategically about audience growth and engagement while executing day-to-day digital production responsibilities. As part of a large digital team, the Digital Producer will write, edit, and curate content that informs and serves our audience across WDRB.com, WDRB+, and social platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Write and edit original content for digital platforms and broadcast newscasts
  • Support newsroom journalists by strengthening digital and social storytelling
  • Write effective digital headlines and summaries optimized for SEO and social engagement
  • Curate and prioritize daily newsletter content
  • Clip and edit video from newscasts for use in digital stories
  • Write, schedule, and publish social media posts across platforms
  • Monitor news feeds and social platforms to identify and respond to breaking news
  • Execute social media and SEO strategies to grow and engage digital audiences
  • Edit sensitive or breaking news content for clarity, accuracy, fairness, and legality
  • Send breaking news alerts as needed

Qualifications

  • Strong writing skills with a solid understanding of AP style
  • Sound news judgment and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks under deadline in a fast-paced newsroom
  • Strong working knowledge of major social media platforms
  • Familiarity with social media analytics; SEO experience preferred

Skills & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field preferred
  • Experience: 1–2 years of digital publishing or newsroom experience
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft applications and Windows-based systems; experience with Photoshop and Town News CMS preferred
