About This Position

  • Job Summary
    • A licensed registered nurse under the direction of the Office Manager who coordinates all activities related to the clinical documentation program. Educates physicians in appropriate documentation to accurately reflect patient home health care needs. Works closely with the nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to establish proper documentation for accurate code/billing assignment. Exhibits the F.I.R.S.T. values (Friendliness, Innovation, Respect, Service, and Trust).
  • Working Conditions, Hazards and Physical Effort
    • Works in a well-lighted, ventilated and air conditioned area when in the office. Schedule may consist of weekends, holidays and shift work. Excellent observation, communication, and problem solving skills as well as basic math skill and nursing skills required. Visual acuity and hearing to perform duties.

      Physical endurance for prolonged periods in a stationary position and moving around the unit are required. Risks exposure to disease, infection and physical strain and assault. Risks exposure to blood, body fluids, and tissue. Must be able to move, position, and/or transfer patients as well as supplies and equipment. Must be able to move or position 50 lbs. independently if asked to perform patient care.

      Must be licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state and organization requirements and is in good working order.

  • Minimum Qualifications or Equivalents
    • Education: Graduate of an accredited ADN, BSN, MSN, or doctorate nursing program. BSN preferred.
    • Experience: One (1) year home health experience and/or one to two (1-2) years of recent acute care experience in an institutional setting preferred. Demonstration of some coding/billing experience, working with CPT codes. Knowledge of state and federal documentation regulations related to billing.
    • EQUIPMENT USED/SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED: (See Competency Checklist).
  • Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registrations
    • Current license in the state of Kentucky. Basic Life Support certification (successful completion within three [3] months of employment). Valid driver’s license.
