About This Position

Description:

Summary: The incumbent is responsible for managing all medical needs of adults with intellectual disabilities for WCDC’s Residential and/or Day Program setting in accordance with MBON, OHCQ, and DDA regulations.

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m., with On-Call Rotation; Flexibility on an as needed basis for limited weekend CMT training.

Rate of Pay: Commensurate based on experience; ranging up to $78,000 annually

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Complete and update initial nursing assessments, nursing care plans, 45-day assessments, and perform monthly Medication Administration Records (MAR) on all day program clients.
  • Collaborate with the team to identify and respond to a wide range of physical and mental health needs. ?
  • Provide guidance and training in the form of delegation to Day Program staff and Certified Medication Technicians (CMTs) in a residential setting for individuals who live with a disability.? ?
  • Participate in alternating on-call responsibilities with other RN's by being available by phone to triage and delegate care instructions.?
  • Determine the medication needs of individuals in the day program, ensure supply of medications and medical products is always adequate; place necessary medication orders, refills, discontinuations, etc. and maintain all documentation involved.
  • Review all medications, logs and PMOF’s within the day program at least monthly to ensure compliance.
  • Ensure individuals receive the necessary medical care to keep them healthy and safe.
  • Determine medical training needs of staff, provide the training and necessary tools to ensure understanding and compliance; complete the necessary paperwork.
  • Provide 20-hour MTTP class and 4-hour MTTP recertification monthly with orientation and/or as needed.
  • Oversee certified medication technicians (CMT), perform routine checks of medication administration and the medication book; apply disciplinary process when necessary.
  • Review incident reports (when they are medical in nature), assess the individual/situation, and complete the incident report form.
  • Act as liaison with the pharmacy, doctors, hospitals, etc. and agency staff to ensure compliance with all requirements outlined by State Regulations and assist with resolving any problems that arise.
  • Attend person center plan meetings for assigned individuals; provide required medical documentation and HRST review.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Qualifications: Must be at least 21 years old, with a valid driver's license, and approved to transport clients. License may not be Provisionals and have a driving record that reflects responsibility and maturity. Complete all DDA Core Training successfully.

Education/Experience:

An RN license from the Maryland Board of Nursing and 2 - 3 years nursing experience preferred.

Physical Demands/work Environment: Must be able to stand and walk 90% of work time; sit and/or drive 10%. Must be able to lift, carry, push, and/or pull 60 pounds; must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch and reach. All of the requirements are necessary in order to properly supervise and assist individuals with disabilities. Should be able to climb stairs/ladder and have good balance. Vision is required in order to drive.
