About This Position
Position Summary
The Assistant Plant Manager is responsible for supporting daily manufacturing operations while leading continuous improvement initiatives across the facility. The role partners closely with the Plant Manager and production teams to drive operational efficiency, quality and cost effectiveness. The position combines hands-on operational leadership with data-driven process improvement.
Essential Role and Responsibilities

· Support the plant manager in overseeing day-to-day manufacturing operations.
· Monitor production schedules to ensure timely and efficient manufacturing processes.
· Collaborate with production teams to meet quality, safety and quantity targets.
· Supervise and support production staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
· Identify operational inefficiencies, bottlenecks and areas for improvement by gathering data and analyzing it to implement process improvements.
· Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the success of improvement initiatives and promote a culture of continuous improvement and employee engagement.
· Create and update documentation process in support of best practices.
· Ensure adherence to safety protocols and regulations within the plant.
· Conduct regular safety meetings and inspections.
· Implement and monitor quality assurance processes.
· Address and resolve quality issues as they arise.
· Assist in managing inventory levels to meet production demands.
· Assist in monitoring and controlling production costs within budgetary constraints.
· Identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality or safety.
· Facilitate communication between different departments within the plant and relay information to upper management and plant staff.
· Prepare regular reports on production metrics, safety incidents, and other relevant key performance indicators.
· Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to manufacturing operations.
· Stay informed about changes in regulations that may impact plant operations.

Requirements:Qualifications and Education Requirements
4 or more years of progressive experience.
Preferred Skills
· Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Business, Engineering, Operations Management).
· Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment, with a demonstrated progression in responsibility.
· Experience in a supervisory or leadership role is preferred along with knowledge and experience driving continuous improvement.
· Basic understanding of quality control and safety protocols.
· Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
· Ability to motivate and inspire a diverse workforce along with excellent communication skills.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
· This position works in a manufacturing facility and requires standing, bending, climbing or walking 80% of the time
· Must frequently twist, bend, and stoop when performing work tasks.
· Frequently carry or lift 25 pounds or more.
