About This Position

Description:

The Student Services Coordinator plays a pivotal leadership role in overseeing a comprehensive team of Special Education Case Managers, Para-educators, and Specialty Services Case Managers. This position is critical in ensuring the delivery of high-quality, compliant, and student-centered support services across the main campus. The Coordinator will be responsible for staff development, performance management, and ensuring strict adherence to all federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to student services, with a particular focus on special education and related support programs. This role will also require close collaboration with the Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) Coordinator to foster an integrated and responsive support framework for all students

Requirements:

Certifications/Licenses:

  • Valid Colorado teaching license with a Special Education endorsement or equivalent administrative/supervisory certification required.

Education:

  • Master’s degree in Special Education

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of successful experience as a Special Education Case Manager, School Psychologist, or related student services role.
  • Demonstrated experience with federal and state special education regulations (IDEA, Section 504).
  • Experience working within or collaborating with an MTSS framework is highly preferred.
  • Experience in applied behavior analysis preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Staff Supervision and Management:
    • Provide direct supervision, guidance, and support to Special Education Case Managers, Para-educators, and Specialty Services Case Managers.
    • Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and identify professional development needs for supervised staff.
    • Facilitate regular team meetings to ensure consistent communication, share best practices, and address emergent issues.
    • Assist in the recruitment, interviewing, and onboarding of new student services personnel.
  • Compliance and Regulatory Oversight:
    • Ensure all supervised staff are fully compliant with federal laws (e.g., IDEA, ADA), state regulations, and district policies related to special education, 504 plans, and other student support services.
    • Monitor the timely and accurate completion of all required documentation, including IEPs, 504 plans, progress reports, and service logs.
    • Conduct regular audits of case files and service delivery to identify areas for improvement and ensure fidelity to established protocols.
    • Stay current with changes in special education law and best practices, disseminating information and providing training to relevant staff.
  • Program Development and Implementation:
    • Collaborate with the Director of Special Education and other district leaders to develop, implement, and refine student service programs and initiatives.
    • Work closely with the MTSS Coordinator to ensure seamless integration of special education services within the broader MTSS framework, promoting early intervention and preventative support.
    • Contribute to the development of district-wide procedures and guidelines for student support services.
  • Case Management Support and Consultation:
    • Provide expert consultation and support to case managers on complex student cases, challenging family dynamics, and legal interpretations.
    • Assist in conflict resolution and mediation pertaining to student services, involving families, staff, and other stakeholders.
    • Oversee the allocation of resources and scheduling for para-educator support and specialty services.
  • Professional Development:
    • Identify, plan, and deliver targeted professional development opportunities for supervised staff to enhance their skills, knowledge, and compliance.
    • Promote a culture of continuous learning and professional growth within the student services team.
  • Communication and Collaboration:
    • Serve as a primary point of contact for school administrators, teachers, parents, and outside agencies regarding student services.
    • Foster effective communication and collaborative relationships with all stakeholders to ensure a cohesive approach to student support.
    • Prepare and present reports on student service outcomes, compliance metrics, and program effectiveness as requested.

Essential Job Functions

  • Oversee IEPs, 504 plans, and service documentation for accuracy and timeliness
