Job Description
Instructional Designer
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Design and Develop Instructional Content: Create engaging and effective learning materials, including presentations, handouts, CBT modules, and job aids, using established templates and design standards.
• Apply Instructional Design Principles: Develop content that aligns with adult learning theory and instructional best practices, ensuring clarity, accessibility, and learner engagement.
• Engage in Proactive Stakeholder Communication: Maintain regular communication with stakeholders to provide project updates, gather feedback, and ensure alignment with strategic training goals and operational needs.
• Manage Project Timelines and Milestones: Develop and maintain detailed project plans, track progress against key milestones, and address risks or delays to ensure timely delivery of training products.
• Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs): Work closely with SMEs to gather technical content, clarify complex information, and translate it into learner-friendly formats that meet training objectives.
• Review and Quality Assurance: Lead content reviews to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with learning goals, incorporating feedback from stakeholders.
• Contribute to Evaluation Efforts: Collect and organize learner feedback and assessment data to support the evaluation of training effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, education, or related field
• 3+ years of experience in instructional design
• Familiarity with adult learning theory and instructional technologies, including ADDIE
• Experience with technical training programs, with a preference for transit
• Knowledge and experience with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2
• Experience with Learning Management System platforms and authoring tools including Adobe Captivate (Classic and/or New version) and InDesign
• Experience holding working sessions with SMEs.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Project Management Certification (PMP or similar)
• Experience with transit technical training programs
