About This Position
Primary Purpose
Provide a high level of coordination and preconstruction support for new opportunities, including proposals, estimating, bidding and some scheduling activities.
Major Responsibilities
Preconstruction:
On occasion visit do a site walk to help scope a project for our clients.
Work with a team to prepare site survey reports and to put together summary budget estimates.
Estimating/Bidding:
Set-up new opportunities in Procore, in the form of new projects.
Review Owner RFP documents and provide a summary list of bid expectations and deliverables.
Put together a sub bid list for various bid opportunities, working with internal team members to identify and pre-qualify potential bidders.
Upload drawings for bid invites. Manage addenda, RFI's and document control for estimating staff.
Send out invitations to bid to all trades.
Put together preliminary scope documents for use in leveling sub bids and for use by the bid team to fill in the gaps with internally estimated numbers.
Work with design consultants to secure quotes on design-build opportunities.
Work with our marketing team to solicit and compile required team resumes, information for the proposal, etc.
Work with our Scheduling Manager, or other company resources to provide required proposal construction schedules.
Provide a high level of communication with bidders to develop a trusted relationship and for the purpose of learning about potential issues with drawings that affect scope, pricing and schedule.
The candidate does not need to be a scheduling expert, but must understand how to build, which affects how pricing is put together.
The candidate will be communicating with the internal bid team, providing professional insight on the bid and being a part of a team that fully assesses each bid opportunity.
The candidate will participate in formal project hand-off meetings with project teams and will need to share bid estimate insights, potential areas of savings, scope and cost assumptions, etc.
The candidate will participate in internal business development meetings to stay abreast of upcoming opportunities.
Estimating / Procurement / Leadership:
Work with our internal Electrical and Mechanical equipment specialists to provide guidance to clients on equipment costs and lead time durations.
Work with the Director of Pre-Construction to compile historical unit costs for future reference and estimates.
When requested, help put together proposals for equipment purchases.
Be an active participant in strategic planning sessions for new opportunities.
Participate in leadership meetings.
Work with the Director of Pre-Construction in the preparation of client high level budget estimates for new opportunities.
Minimum Job Requirements
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as Construction Management or Engineering (with a construction background).
Certification / License
Work Experience
3 - 5 years of estimating experience in heavy mechanical/electrical type projects, such as data centers or hospitals.
2 – 4 years of experience with Procore preferred
The candidate must be strong in the use of Excel and Word, along with a working knowledge of Microsoft Project.

Work Experience: Construction experience
5 – 7 years of experience in estimating and preconstruction services
The candidate must be strong in the use of Excel and Word, along with a working knowledge of Microsoft Project.
2 – 4 years of experience with Procore preferred
