Dietary Director
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Dietary Director to lead the dietary operations of our residential care facility. This vital leadership role is essential in ensuring that residents receive nutritious, well-balanced meals while adhering to all dietary regulations, food safety standards, and facility policies. The Dietary Director will oversee kitchen staff, manage meal planning and food preparation, oversee inventory and budgeting, and ensure that all dietary procedures and processes are consistently followed to support the health and well-being of the individuals we serve.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and oversee meal planning to ensure nutritional adequacy and variety in accordance with dietary guidelines and residents’ needs
- Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff, including training, scheduling, and performance management
- Ensure proper food storage, handling, and sanitation procedures are followed to maintain food safety standards
- Manage inventory, including ordering, receiving, and storing food supplies and kitchen equipment
- Prepare and monitor budgets related to dietary services, controlling costs while maintaining quality
- Oversee food preparation and presentation, ensuring meals are served timely and meet quality standards
- Maintain compliance with all relevant dietary regulations, food safety standards, and facility policies
- Follow safe procedures for handling hot/steam carts and other kitchen equipment
- Keep detailed records of dietary procedures, food safety checks, and resident dietary needs
- Collaborate with healthcare staff to accommodate special dietary requirements and restrictions
Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience in dietary management, preferably within a healthcare or residential care setting
- Strong knowledge of nutrition, food safety standards, and regulatory compliance
- Excellent leadership and team management skills
- Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks effectively
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of inventory management and budgeting processes
- Certification in food safety and sanitation preferred
- Ability to follow detailed procedures and maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety
