Description: The Psychiatric Technician provides on-site support and supervision to participants in both Intensive and Supportive programs, helping maintain a safe, structured, and recovery-focused environment. This role supports daily program operations, participant needs, and transportation while working collaboratively with clinical, case management, and program staff. Flexibility and availability are essential to meet the evolving needs of a residential setting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide consistent on-site supervision and support to participants in both Intensive and Supportive programs, helping maintain a safe, structured, and recovery-oriented environment. Supervision may include, but is not limited to, medication support, responding to emergent needs, reinforcing program guidelines, and ensuring adherence to safety standards.
- Provide transportation for participants in Intensive and Supportive programs to and from the Life Learning Center, medical and clinical appointments, court appearances, wellness activities, recreational activities, and other scheduled or approved engagements, as needed.
- Maintain a flexible schedule and remain available to support the dynamic needs of the program. Transportation and participant support needs may arise unexpectedly, including urgent medical or psychiatric appointments.
- Coordinate prescription pick-ups for Intensive and Supportive participants in collaboration with clinical and case management staff to ensure timely access to medications.
- Provide administrative and operational support to the program, including serving as a backup to the Program Administrative Assistant as needed, and assisting with record maintenance in accordance with program standards.
- Assist with daily program operations, including support of the Fresh Air Break (FAB) schedule, coordination of transportation needs, and general participant support while on site.
- Support participant intake and aftercare processes as needed, including screenings, follow-up activities, and documentation in accordance with organizational policies.
- Provide program coverage across shifts or locations, as assigned, to ensure continuity of services.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the effective operation of the program and the mission of The Women’s Home.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or a related field preferred
- Two (2) years of experience working with individuals impacted by substance use and/or mental health challenges
- Valid Texas driver’s license and eligibility to operate an organization vehicle, as required by job duties
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and work independently within established guidelines
- Demonstrated ability to maintain professional boundaries with residents
- Willingness to collaborate with supervisors and seek guidance as needed
- Availability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
Physical & Functional Requirements
- Ability to walk frequently throughout residential buildings and grounds
- Ability to navigate stairs regularly
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, stoop, and lift up to 20 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation
- Ability to meet organizational driving requirements prior to transporting clients
