About This Position

Description:

Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineer plays a crucial role in the production process, ensuring that products are manufactured efficiently and effectively. This individual will be responsible for developing and implementing manufacturing processes, optimizing production workflows, and improving overall product quality. The successful candidate will have a strong technical background, the ability to program and troubleshoot CNC machines, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Job Specific Competencies:

1. Manufacturing

a. Supervises the setup of production machinery for new product lines

b. Trains manufacturing line personnel on new products

c. Assists in the production startup of products

d. Researches manufacturing processes and methods to improve engineering efficiency

e. Conducts time studies

f. Operating Engraver

2. Engineering

a. Creates detailed mechanical and electrical design of test stations and fixtures

b. Reviews design requirement documentation for new products

c. Prepares work instructions, fixtures, tooling, assembly aids, inspection criteria and product data files, including CNC programming

d. Supports the feasibility process

e. Maintains time records and project reports as required

f. Investigates new technologies and processes that can be used to create competitive products

3. Collaboration

a. Interacts with other departments for completing prototypes and projects

b. Interacts with customers as needed

4. Legal Compliance

a. Ensure legal compliance with state, federal and OSHA requirements

b. Ensure ISO procedures are followed

c. Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures

Minimum Qualifications and Education

· AS, BS or higher in EE, EET, ME or MET or demonstrable equivalent

· Experience in mechanical design

· Experience in using AutoCAD

· Experience operating an Engraver

· Knowledge of G-Code, IF/THEN language, and sub-routine programing

· Knowledge of MasterCAM (or familiarity of a CAM software) is a plus

· Knowledge of Fagor and Allen Bradley a plus

· Mechanical ability for trouble shooting CNC equipment

· Previous fixture building experience

· Experience in the electronic production process and methodology is required

Working Conditions

Movement

This position needs to occasionally move about inside the office and on the production floor. Frequently required to reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl

Operate/Use

Must be able to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery (i.e. copier, printer, calculator)

Ascend/Descend

Rarely ascends/descends stairs to reach archived files

Communicate

This position frequently communicates with co-workers, managers and supervisors. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.

Transport

This position frequently lifts or moves 25 pounds, occasionally moves up to 50 pounds for various needs.

Work Environment

Relatively quiet but fast paced.

Travel

Occasional travel to customers and vendors, with overnight stays, may be required.
