POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Accountant performs a variety of professional-level accounting duties involved in preparing, maintaining, analyzing, verifying, and reconciling complex financial transactions, statements, records, and reports. This position is responsible for maintaining the accuracy of ledgers and financial systems as well as assisting in the preparation of assigned budgets, annual tax returns, and year-end closing. The Senior Accountant ensures the integrity of accounting information by reviewing financial reports prepared by accountants.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Accountant performs a variety of professional-level accounting duties involved in preparing, maintaining, analyzing, verifying, and reconciling complex financial transactions, statements, records, and reports. This position is responsible for maintaining the accuracy of ledgers and financial systems as well as assisting in the preparation of assigned budgets, annual tax returns, and year-end closing. The Senior Accountant ensures the integrity of accounting information by reviewing financial reports prepared by accountants.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Prepares financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends
- Documents financial transactions by entering account information
- Substantiates financial transactions by auditing documents
- Guides accounting clerical staff by coordinating activities and answering questions
- Maintains financial security by following internal controls and promotes ethical environment
- Prepares payments by verifying documentation and requesting disbursements
- Maintains investor confidence and protects operations by maintaining confidentiality
- Reconciles monthly bank statements and is responsible for cash management
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks and participating in professional organizations
- Reviews financial reports completed by accountants and ensures that all deadlines are met within their portfolio
- Assists with year end reporting including, but not limited to annual filings, audits and tax returns
- Performs other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Financial management
- Understanding of GAAP fundamentals
- Technical capacity

- Communication proficiency
- Relationship management
SPECIFIC EDUCATION OR EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required
- CPA certification preferred, but not required
- 3-5 years of accounting experience
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Frequently sit, stand and walk.
- Regularly required to talk or hear.
- Frequently required to use hands or fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls.
- Occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Vision abilities to include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- Temperature in the workplace is typically moderate, though the ability to withstand seasonal cold and heat of the outdoors is necessary.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
- About 10% travel required at this time.
