Summary of Position:
St. Michael's Catholic Preparatory School seeks a dynamic, mission-driven Varsity Head Baseball Coach for the 2026-2027 year. This is a full-time position that includes additional responsibilities as a member of the athletic facilities grounds crew. The Varsity Head Baseball Coach is responsible for all aspects of the baseball program, including coaching, planning, organizing, and promoting a culture of competitive excellence and positive character development. The coach will oversee the varsity program, supervise assistant coaches, and ensure alignment with the school’s mission, policies, and core values. This position also requires participation on the athletic facilities grounds crew, assisting with maintenance and operations to support all St. Michael’s athletic programs.
Job Details:
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Lead and manage all aspects of the varsity baseball program, including practice and game planning, player development, scouting, and supervision of assistant coaches.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and mission-aligned team culture that emphasizes character, sportsmanship, and academic achievement.
- Communicate effectively with student-athletes, families, faculty, and the athletic administration.
- Ensure compliance with all school, league, NFHS, and TAPPS School Associations rules and policies.
- Actively participate in the recruitment and retention of student-athletes, supporting the school’s enrollment and retention goals.
- Collaborate with the athletic department on scheduling, transportation, equipment, and facility needs.
- Support the spiritual and personal growth of student-athletes in accordance with the Catholic faith and school mission.
- Serve as a member of the athletic facilities grounds crew, performing duties that may include field maintenance, setup and breakdown for events, and other related responsibilities as assigned.
Required Experience, Degree, and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
- Previous successful experience coaching baseball at the high school or collegiate level (head coaching experience strongly preferred).
- Demonstrated commitment to the mission and values of St. Michael’s Prep and to the formation of young men through athletics.
- Knowledge of best practices in baseball coaching, player safety, and program administration in line with NFHS and TAPPS standards.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Willingness to collaborate with colleagues and contribute to a team-oriented environment.
- Ability to serve as a positive role model for student-athletes, upholding the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.
- Experience or willingness to participate in athletic facilities management or grounds crew operations is required.
