FMI is seeking an experienced Laboratory Technician – Level 1 to join our Quality Control Team. This role is responsible for performing dimensional, mechanical and chemical laboratory testing using specific test equipment, specifications, methods and standards.
Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct dimensional, mechanical, physical, and chemical testing in accordance with company procedures and ASTM/industry standards
- Record and maintain accurate test data, reports, and laboratory documentation to support quality and compliance requirements
- Support product acceptance activities by verifying results and ensuring adherence to specifications
- Identify and document nonconforming materials; assist with material review and corrective/preventive actions
- Participate in internal audits, data analysis, and continuous improvement efforts to enhance lab and process performance
- Maintain a safe, organized lab environment and support cross-training and team operations as needed
What we need from you:
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree or chemistry coursework a plus
- 1+ year of lab, manufacturing, or related experience
- Knowledge or experience with composites/textiles, ASTM test methods, atomic absorption testing and or carbon content determination is a plus
- Basic experience with inspection tools (calipers, micrometers) and mechanical or chemical testing methods
- Ability to read, interpret, and follow work instructions, specifications, and safety procedures
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accurate data in Excel/MS Office
- Basic math and problem-solving skills; familiarity with quality systems or ERP
Shift Schedule:
- Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm
