About This Position
This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Startup Testing Engineer in United States.
This role is a highly specialized engineering opportunity focused on preparing and validating the safe startup of complex nuclear power plant systems. You will take ownership of developing and executing preoperational and startup testing strategies that ensure full system readiness before operation. Working at the intersection of engineering design, operations, and regulatory compliance, you will help define how critical plant systems are verified and brought online. The role involves close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical, electrical, control, and safety engineers. You will also contribute to setting standards, improving testing methodologies, and ensuring alignment with strict nuclear industry regulations. This is a high-impact position where precision, safety, and technical leadership directly influence the successful commissioning of advanced energy infrastructure.
- Lead the development of comprehensive preoperational and startup testing roadmaps, including milestones, schedules, resource planning, and success criteria.
- Write and maintain detailed test procedures and specifications for mechanical, electrical, control, instrumentation, and safety systems.
- Ensure all testing activities comply with nuclear regulatory standards, industry codes, and internal quality requirements.
- Coordinate cross-functional engineering teams during test planning and execution, assigning responsibilities and tracking progress.
- Support commissioning activities by identifying risks, resolving technical issues, and implementing corrective actions when needed.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of startup testing standards, documentation practices, and execution methodologies.
- Participate in stakeholder and client engagement activities, including technical reviews and occasional site visits.
- Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 6+ years of experience in commissioning, startup, testing, or operations support in power generation or highly regulated energy environments.
- Strong understanding of nuclear power plant systems and commissioning processes across mechanical, electrical, and control disciplines.
- Proven experience developing test plans, procedures, and technical documentation for complex engineering systems.
- Familiarity with project management practices, including scheduling, resource planning, and cross-functional coordination.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess risk and implement effective technical solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation and stakeholder coordination.
- Leadership ability to guide, mentor, and coordinate engineering teams in high-complexity environments.
- Preferred: Master’s degree, PE license, nuclear commissioning experience, and familiarity with tools such as MS Project or Primavera P6.
- Competitive hourly compensation ranging from $50 to $105, depending on experience and qualifications.
- Opportunity to work on high-impact nuclear energy projects in a technically advanced environment.
- Exposure to complex commissioning and startup operations within a highly regulated industry.
- Flexible engagement option (part-time or long-term basis depending on project needs).
- Collaborative engineering culture focused on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Professional growth through leadership, mentorship, and advanced technical responsibility.
- Potential eligibility for additional project-based or performance incentives.
