SALARY: $70,000-$75,000 per year, paid bi-weekly

Position Description
The City Director, Los Angeles leads external engagement and development efforts while providing local oversight of Depaul USA programs in the Los Angeles market. This role is primarily focused on major gift fundraising, donor and partner cultivation, volunteer engagement, and community relationship-building to advance Depaul USA’s mission, in close collaboration with the Executive/Development Team and the Casa Milagrosa Program Manager. The City Director also provides operational oversight of Dax and Casa Milagrosa programs, ensuring alignment between fundraising priorities and program delivery in partnership with the Executive and Development team.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions
• The City Director is responsible for meeting established fundraising revenue goals for the Los Angeles market and will be evaluated based on donor growth, major gift activity, and event fundraising performance.
• Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy focused on identifying, cultivating, and stewarding individual, corporate, and philanthropic partners, growing major gifts, expanding donor engagement, and building long-term relationships in collaboration with the Chief Executive Officer and Sr. Director of Development.
• Collaborate with the Manager of Fundraising & Strategic Events to support the Los Angeles annual fundraising event and future expansion efforts, including meeting revenue goals, managing the event budget, recruiting sponsors, and leading local marketing efforts.
• Recruit, lead, and support a strong Local Advisory Council, including facilitating regular meetings and engaging members as strategic partners and fundraisers.
• Recruit, manage, and grow a strong volunteer base to support fundraising efforts, community outreach, and program engagement, creating meaningful opportunities that deepen engagement and expand awareness of Depaul USA’s mission.
• Serve as a key public representative for Depaul USA in Los Angeles, delivering presentations, participating in community events, and maintaining relationships with civic organizations, faith-based partners, and community leaders.
• Provide leadership in shaping the strategic direction and vision for Depaul USA’s programs and clearly communicate this vision to the public and key stakeholders. Liaise with local officials, funders, and community groups to strengthen services for homeless and disadvantaged individuals.
• Work with local leaders and Depaul USA development staff to develop new projects and grow programs both financially and programmatically.
• Conduct tours of Depaul USA programs in Los Angeles for visitors and volunteers.
• Build strong working relationships with other projects, partners, and agencies.

Additional Tasks and Responsibilities
• Conduct and lead monthly Dax and Casa Milagrosa meetings, ensuring agenda development, team coordination, and follow-up on action items.
• Attend and participate in City Directors meetings, providing program updates and supporting cross-department coordination.
• Maintain managerial oversight of Dax and Casa Milagrosa programs, ensuring effective operations and staff supervision, in collaboration with the National Dax Director and local program leadership.
• Serve as Property Manager for Dax and Casa Milagrosa program sites, overseeing facilities, maintenance, and safety compliance.
• Collaborate with program staff to maximize the quality and impact of services delivered through initiatives, ensuring alignment with Depaul USA’s mission and values.
• Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance collaboration, cultural competency, and communication skills.

General Responsibilities
• Stays informed of current local and national events, trends, and issues (wherever possible) that impact Depaul USA’s work with the homeless.
• Strives continuously to develop the role in collaboration with the supervisor to ensure that all tasks are undertaken effectively and appropriately, meeting the strategic goals and objectives of Depaul USA.
• Participates in internal/external meetings as required and attends training events, conferences, and other functions as necessary. Participates in regular supervision and annual appraisal and helps in identifying your job-related development and training needs.
• Ensures adherence to all Depaul USA policies and procedures, particularly those relating to Health and Safety, Safeguarding, Code of Practice, and Confidentiality.
• Contributes to the effective implementation of Depaul USA’s Equal Opportunities Policy as it affects both the organization and its work with this client group.
• Undertakes the role professionally, always maintaining a high-quality work standard and always working in accordance with the Vision, Mission, and Values of Depaul USA.
• Undertakes any other duties that may be required which are commensurate with the role.

Qualifications
The ideal Director will be an experienced professional with several years of experience in fundraising, and stakeholder engagement, ideally within the social services or nonprofit sector. S/he will have demonstrated success leading strategic initiatives, building partnerships, and adapting to evolving organizational and community needs. The Director will have the following experience and attributes:
• Bachelor’s degree with at least five years of fundraising experience, preferably including major gift fundraising, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Demonstrated success securing gifts of $5,000+, managing a donor portfolio, and cultivating long-term donor relationships.
• Proven experience in fundraising strategy, partnership development, and engagement with diverse stakeholders, including government, nonprofits, businesses, and community organizations.
• Experience planning and executing fundraising events and campaigns, including sponsor recruitment and volunteer coordination.
• Experience collaborating with or supporting program operations in a nonprofit setting, including coordination with program staff, service delivery teams, or operational leadership (preferred).
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities across development and programmatic responsibilities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and comfortable using technology to support fundraising, reporting, and operations.

Special Requirement
• Must possess a valid California Class C driver's license and comply with Depaul USA’s Motor Vehicle Policy during the course of employment. Additionally, occasional use of a personal vehicle may be necessary.

Work Schedule
• In-person, primarily based in a Los Angeles office or Casa Milagrosa site.
• Standard schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm PST; however, this is a highly external-facing role that requires flexibility based on fundraising, donor engagement, and community needs.
• Evenings and weekends are required as needed for donor meetings, cultivation events, fundraising activities, and community engagement.
• Travel is required for this role.
