Summary:
As Supervisor of the Electrical Engineering team in the Engineering Group you will report to the Director of Engineering. You will work with a multi-disciplinary team and provide technical oversight on electrical design and prototype assembly of the company’s products including the production of supporting documentation for fabrication and assembly.
What You'll Do:
Supervise and guide electrical engineers in the electrical engineering group;- Provide production/manufacturing support (track/categorize issue reports, problem reports, update procedures, update designs due to component obsolescence, etc.).
- Produce technical documentation for manufacturing needs (specifications, procedures, test plans/procedures, modification instructions, etc.).
- Transform conceptual designs into detailed schematics, PCB layouts, fabrication and assembly drawings;
- Assemble, test and troubleshoot PCBA & electrical subsystems;
- Research, source and acquire OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) components.
- Interact with fabricators and suppliers of electrical parts to ensure quality and accuracy.
- Perform new design work and the detailing/completion of designs created by others;
- Delivery of products, milestones, and project deliverables on time and on budget
- Quality documentation – NCR, waivers, issues
- Ensure new product designs/processes meet overall systems performance requirements.
- Troubleshooting issues, documents update and change requests on Norsat products
- Product delivery for all products pass NPI passing Gate 2 and Gate 3
- Assisting in the transfer of designed and white label products to manufacturing.
- Review production procedures and update for accuracy and improved efficiency.
- Complete first article inspection for new components
- Initiate engineering change orders and update designs for Engineering approval.
- Work with Production to troubleshoot component failures, design issues and testing issues.
- Continuously improving our products/process through time and cost reduction.
- Maintain designated 5S areas.
- KPIs: On time delivery on projects and MO’s
- Other duties as assigned.
What You'll Bring:
- B.A.Sc. in Electrical required
- Minimum 5 years of electrical engineering experience required in electronics design
- Experience in a supervisory role in electronics
- Schematic capture and PCB layout experience
- Relevant experience with Protel/Altium preferred
- Exposure to digital and analog electronic designs preferred
- Hands-on experience building, testing and troubleshooting electronic circuits
- Hands-on experience with test equipment including signal analyzers, vector network analyzers, signal generators and oscilloscopes
- Knowledge of RF fundamentals and design an asset
