Outpatient Oncology Clinical Pharmacist – PRN
Nebraska Cancer Specialists is the regional leader in cancer diagnosis, treatment and research. We are seeking a compassionate, caring, kind, and capable Outpatient Oncology Clinical Pharmacist which will serve patients of Nebraska Cancer Specialists (NCS) by preparing medications, giving pharmacological information to multidisciplinary health care team, and monitoring patient drug therapy.
Job Duties:
- Prepares medications by reviewing and interpreting physician orders; detecting therapeutic incompatibilities.
- Dispenses medications by packaging and labeling pharmaceuticals.
- Controls medications by developing pharmacy care plans which involve drug therapy monitoring and advisement for interventions.
- Completes pharmacy operational requirements by organizing and directing technicians' work flow; verifying their preparation and labeling of pharmaceuticals; verifying order entries, charges, and inspections.
- Provides pharmacological information by answering questions and requests of health care professionals; counseling patients on drug therapies.
- Develops clinic staff's pharmacological knowledge by participating in clinical programs; training pharmacy staff, nursing staff, medical assistants and students.
- Supervises pharmacy technician duties according to company policies and standards set forth by the State of Nebraska.
- Assists the Outpatient Pharmacy Manager in the coordination, development and implementation of the Performance Improvement Plan. This is achieved by identifying goals and related client/patient outcomes. Coordinating, participating in, and reporting activities and outcomes.
- Complies with state and federal drug laws as regulated by the state board of pharmacy, the drug enforcement administration, and the food and drug administration; maintaining records for controlled substances; removing outdated and damaged drugs from the pharmacy inventory; supervising the work results of support personnel; maintaining current registration; studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; advising management on needed actions.
- Responsible for adherence to required standards set forth by accrediting bodies such as the Accreditation Commission for Health Care.
- Protects patients and technicians by adhering to hazardous drug handling protocols.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Maintains pharmacological knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- PharmD degree from an accredited college or university with a current license to practice in the United States.
- Licensure in the state of Nebraska.
- Five years’ experience as a pharmacist, preferably in retail or outpatient setting
- Board Certification in Oncology Pharmacy (preferred)
