About the role
As a Rust Software Engineer, this is a technically demanding, high-impact role for an experienced engineer who enjoys tackling deep, foundational problems. Youll work on the design and development of a proof-generating virtual machine capable of running standard RISC-V Linux programs, enabling verifiable execution regardless of where code is run.
Youll operate at the intersection of systems programming, performance engineering, and cryptographic verification, helping to unify deterministic computation with provable correctness. Your work will directly shape platform architecture, performance characteristics, and long-term technical direction.
Youll join a team deeply embedded in the Web3 and blockchain ecosystem, contributing to core infrastructure and developer tooling that supports decentralised applications, DeFi platforms, gaming projects, and cultural initiatives on a rapidly evolving blockchain stack.This role offers significant autonomy and ownership, with the opportunity to make a meaningful technical impact from day one.Responsibilities
  • Design and implement core components of a proof-generating virtual machine capable of executing RISC-V Linux programs
  • Build and optimise performance-critical systems with a strong focus on correctness and determinism
  • Apply systems programming principles to improve execution efficiency, reliability, and scalability
  • Contribute to the design of commitment and proof schemes, ensuring correctness and verifiability
  • Develop SDKs and tooling to support other engineers and external developers
  • Break down complex, large-scale engineering problems into clear, tractable components
  • Participate in architectural discussions and guide key technical and design decisions
  • Collaborate closely with other engineers in a fast-paced, research-driven environment
  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly in writing, verbally, and via whiteboarding
  • Continuously identify opportunities to improve system performance, reliability, and developer experience
Requirements
  • Strong, hands-on experience in software engineering within complex or low-level systems
  • Modern, idiomatic Rust experience in production or performance-sensitive environments
  • Strong computer science fundamentals, including: Algorithms, Data structures, Concurrency.
  • Proven ability to reason about large systems and break complex problems into manageable solutions
  • Experience working on performance-critical or systems-level software
  • Clear and confident technical communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Comfortable working with a high degree of autonomy and ownership
  • Passion for working in a fast-moving, crypto-native environment
Nice to have
  • Familiarity with instruction sets in different execution contexts
  • Experience working on or with language runtimes, compilers, or interpreters
  • Background in systems programming, embedded systems, or low-level infrastructure
  • Experience building developer tooling or SDKs
  • Prior exposure to blockchain, cryptographic systems, or Web3 infrastructure
