GI Alliance is seeking an experienced Cybersecurity Engineer II.


Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:



Position purpose
The Cybersecurity Engineer, II, plays a vital role in securing GI Alliance’s infrastructure, networks, and systems. This role focuses on designing, implementing, and managing advanced security solutions, as well as ensuring that the organization’s security posture aligns with best practices and regulatory requirements. This position participates in security operations including incident response and vulnerability management to prioritize and minimize cyber risk across the organization. Working with IT and business stakeholders to align security with business needs will be vital to the Cybersecurity Team’s success. Additional duties include documentation of security designs, policies, and procedures while ensuring adherence to relevant security standards and regulations.
Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks:

  • Monitoring & Incident Response: Monitor detection and EDR mechanisms to identify potential threats, and assist in responding to incidents. Conduct Threat Intel monitoring and act on emerging or confirmed threats.
  • Vulnerability Management: Participate in vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and remediation of security weaknesses.
  • Security Orchestration and Automation: Automate tasks where possible, using scripting and configuration management tools.
  • Security Controls Compliance: Review of relevant security controls (NIST, SOC, HITRUST, CMMC, etc.) to ensure enterprise compliance. Document and track vulnerabilities and control deficiencies.
  • Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A): Participate in planning and implementation of current and future security domains including those which may introduce new service areas (e.g. Cloud Computing, DevSecOps). Manage Cybersecurity requirements for M&A and integration of new business ventures for the enterprise. Build, implement and document new locations according to industry best practices and established compliance policies.
  • Customer Support & Assessments: Engaging with customers and auditors to address technical concerns and resolve issues. Develop and coordinate test strategies, plans, procedures, and reports across programs to ensure thorough validation and success.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain documentation as it relates to network configurations/diagrams, network mapping, processes, daily checklists, and service records. (Control matrices, corrective action plans, risk register, POAMs, SSP, etc.)
  • Operations: Monitor ITSM tickets and ensure timely response and resolutions within SLAs. Conduct monthly, quarterly, and yearly audits of cybersecurity baselines as required. Maintain hardening standards for all operating systems employed by the enterprise. Assist in developing & maintaining a disaster recovery plan, assist in testing plan and update documentation as needed. Continuous growth and exploration of new technologies to enhance network performance and security capabilities.
  • Cross Domain Support: Work in partnership with Networking and IT Infrastructure to address risks and maintain secure configurations. Work closely with management and team to gather input, diagnose root causes, and resolve problems. Interface with leadership, engineers, and vendor technical support resources.

  • Qualifications
    Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science / STEM or other technical/scientific discipline or equivalent experience.

  • Experience:
  • 5+ years IT related work; preferred 3+ years in a security related discipline.
  • Enterprise level Network/System Administration or Engineering experience.
  • Proficient level of knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems, networks, and network security technologies (IPS, firewalls, etc.), TCP/IP network communication structure, protocols and processes, internet protocols and connectivity methods, vulnerability scanning, penetration testing and user authentication technologies.

  • Working knowledge of common information security management frameworks, such as ISO/IEC 27001, and NIST.
  • Relevant security certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, CISM, GCIH, CEH, Security+, or CCNA Security, or equivalent certification required. Non-specific vendor cloud certifications are a plus.

  • Essential Skills and Experience:
  • Demonstrated administration of security platforms and security related best practices.

  • Problem analysis and problem resolution at both an operational and tactical level.

  • Experience in developing and deploying security specific solutions including the automation of repeatable security tasks and controls.

  • Experience with security vulnerability and penetration tools, remediation, and processes.
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.

  • Performance Requirements:
  • Highly proficient IT technical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to manage conflict and resolve problems.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Self-motivated with initiative.
  • Strong sense of ethics.

  • Equipment Operated: This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
    Work Environment: This job operates in professional office environments.
  • Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
