ER Veterinary Assistant – Swing Shift
Location: Grand Terrace, CA
Schedule: Full Time | Evening, Weekend & Holiday Shifts Required
Pay Range: $21–$26/hour, based on experience
Animal Emergency Clinic (AEC) is an AAHA-accredited emergency veterinary hospital serving the Inland Empire for over 50 years. Our highly skilled emergency team provides after-hours and urgent care services for pets, with plans to expand to 24/7 emergency services.
What You’ll DoEmergency & Patient Care
- Assist ER veterinarians and RVT's with patient triage, restraint, and treatments
- Obtain accurate patient vitals and monitor hospitalized patients
- Assist with venipuncture and collect blood samples confidently
- Assist with placing, maintaining, and removing IV catheters
- Administer medications and treatments as directed
- Provide compassionate nursing care to critical and hospitalized patients
Anesthesia & Surgery
- Assist with surgical procedures, including patient prep and recovery
- Monitor anesthesia (TPR, ECG, SpO₂, blood pressure, ETCO₂ when applicable)
- Maintain sterile technique and assist with instrument handling
- Monitor patients during recovery and report concerns promptly
Diagnostics & Technical Skills
- Run and process in-house diagnostics (bloodwork, cytology, urinalysis)
- Assist with radiographs and imaging
- Support oxygen therapy, fluid therapy, and emergency interventions
- Accurately document treatments, procedures, and patient care
General Duties
- Maintain clean, safe, and well-stocked treatment areas
- Support a positive and professional team environment
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a veterinary hospital setting
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently and under supervision in a fast-paced environment
- Strong computer skills for EMR and record-keeping
- Flexible, dependable, and responsible with strong time-management skills
- Pay range: $21–$26/hour, based on experience
