Project Commutation Women’s Incarceration Attorney at Tulsa Community Foundation – Tulsa, Oklahoma
About This Position
Project Commutation is a component of JusticeLink, LLC and works with individuals who are incarcerated in the Oklahoma Department of Corrections. Project Commutation primarily focuses on individuals who are serving excessive prison sentences and represents them during Commutation and / or Parole hearings before the Oklahoma Pardon and Parole Board. Once released, Project Commutation continues working with these individuals to provide resources for a successful reentry.
Position Summary: The Women’s Incarceration Attorney provides dedicated legal representation for women incarcerated at Eddie Warrior Correctional Center and women seeking release through parole, commutation, and other post-conviction relief mechanisms, including Oklahoma’s Survivors’ Act. This position also supports women navigating legal reentry-related matters following release, either through direct representation or referral coordination.

Responsibilities / Essential Job Function:
- Provide direct legal representation in parole, commutation, and post-conviction proceedings.
- Serve as counsel for Survivors’ Act cases.
- Conduct legal intake, investigation, and case preparation.
- Draft and file legal pleadings, petitions, and supporting documentation.
- Prepare clients for hearings using trauma-informed legal practices.
- Coordinate with reentry case managers to support individualized release planning.
- Represent or support clients in addressing legal reentry-related matters following release, which may include fines and fees, cost dockets, or other court-related obligations.
- Maintain accurate case records and outcome tracking.
- Conduct legal education workshops and outreach at Eddie Warrior Correctional Center.
- Collaborate with community partners and advocacy coalitions to address systemic barriers.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience:
- Licensed to practice law in Oklahoma
- Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school
- Experience in legal document preparation, and knowledge of legal documents and terminology
- Commitment to serving justice-impacted women
- Strong written and oral advocacy skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment

- Excellent prioritization and time management skills, working in environments with highly variable volume, frequency, and urgency of client needs.

- Heightened sense of situational awareness, understanding emotional and traumatic responses, and ability to facilitate and de-escalate troubled behavior/interactions to resolve/find solutions. Stable, calm, level-headed, and patient demeanor in even the most difficult situations.

- Demonstrated proficiency (or ability to quickly learn and effectively use) using Excel spreadsheets, operating a smartphone and other required business applications.
- Willingness to meet personally with clients, including travelling in-state to different courts and DOC facilities.
Hours & Location:
- Position is based at JusticeLink at 211 West Archer.
- Typical work hours are Monday – Friday from 8:00 to 4:00, but flexibility may be required to address client needs.
Physical Requirement:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and ability to travel between counties and/or DOC facilities as needed.
- Verbal and written communication with ability to effectively exchange information and manage constant flow of phone calls, in-person client requests, messaging, and documentation.
- Agility to consistently operate computers, phones, and other office productivity tools.
