Job Summary: The Graphic Designer is part of the Creative Services team responsible for the creation & design of service delivery, promotional, marketing, fundraising and point of service materials that convey the Library's brand identity and support the Library's marketing, fundraising and media plans.
The Graphic Designer creates and designs an array of materials from idea development through layout and preparation of final pre-press files. Projects include brochures, posters, flyers and invitations as well as advertising. Specifically responsible for donor-centric newsletters and Annual Report and the Program Guide.

Essential Functions:
  • Accurately produce in-house brochures, fliers, bookmarks, booklists, signage and other library and fundraising materials through concept, print and delivery;
  • Contribute to the oversight of the storage, distribution and inventory records of printed materials;
  • Conceptualize and collaborate with supervisor and team to create original art. Develop images from clipart, stock photography and original CLP photography;
  • Create and organize Canva templates for staff use;
  • Adhere to the parameters of the CLP brand in all promotions and explore creative solutions that can push the boundaries to keep the CLP brand fresh without compromising its integrity;
  • Select imagery, color palettes, iconography, and typefaces to ensure cohesive, on-brand communication;
  • Participate in brand development initiatives, including visual identity systems and style guide creation;
  • Manage and organize creative assets (graphics, photos, video, illustrations);
  • Coordinate with external vendors (printers, freelancers, videographers) when required;
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and budget considerations;
  • Prepare production-ready files for both digital and print environments;
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Competencies and Qualifications:
  • High proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud design software (lnDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat) and well versed in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint);
  • Ability to create effective graphics and displays in keeping with established style guides;
  • Familiarity with Canva;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Knowledge of pre-press/production processes;
  • Strong concept development and problem-solving skills;
  • Strong typography, layout, color theory, and composition skills;
  • Highly organized and dependable, able to multi-task, work quickly and meet multiple deadlines;
  • Must be detail-oriented, resourceful and demonstrate excellent follow-through;
  • Experience with cutting, mounting, laminating, preferred;
  • Experience with photography equipment, preferred;
  • Excellent proof-reading skills preferred;
  • Able to work independently as well as collaboratively with team members.
Education and Experience:
  • Associate's degree in Graphic Arts/Design or a related field;
  • Minimum of one to three years of related experience;
  • Or equivalent technical training, education, and/or experience;
  • Portfolio demonstrating strong work across print, branding, and campaign-based design.
Physical and Environmental Conditions:
  • Must be able to work full-time hours and additional or extended hours as needed.
  • Prolonged periods of standing, sitting and working at a work station and/or desk, and using computers, tools or other devices.
  • Ability to safely move, carry and lift moderately heavy loads and materials up to 40 lbs; and ability to move additional weight by safely using hand trucks, carts or other devices.
Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts, which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, libraries or meeting rooms, e.g., use of safe workplace practices with office equipment, and/or avoidance of trips and falls. Also may include travel to other areas, spaces and locations which could present different hazards and risks, such as stairs, stages, sloping or uneven ground, etc.
