Description:

The Academy of Our Lady of Peace (OLP) seeks a dedicated, on-site Summer School Teacher for the Pilot Study Skills course. We are looking for an educator who wants to make a positive impact on the lives of young women by upholding and communicating the school mission, philosophy, and core values while modeling behavior that inspires academic excellence and an enthusiasm for learning. The Teacher will help students learn and grow to become young women of heart, faith, courage, and excellence in the spirit of our sponsoring religious order, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet.

Course Details:

  • Dates: July 1st – July 16th
  • Holidays: July 3rd (No Classes)
  • Stipend: $3,750
  • Target Grades: 9 – 10

OLP is the oldest remaining, single-gender, all girls’ Catholic school in San Diego. We welcome 750 young women to our campus forming a diverse educational community that strives to educate students to the needs of society. As a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) school, OLP places a strong emphasis on 21st-century learning skills across the curriculum. Essential Functions:

  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies tailored to girls’ education, focusing on study skills, academic organization, and success strategies for high school.
  • Develop and implement curriculum for the Pilot Study Skills course, ensuring it prepares students for the rigors of grades 9 and 10.
  • Work positively and collaboratively with the Summer School administration and fellow faculty.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with students, parents, and guardians regarding student progress.
  • Assess and report on student performance throughout the summer session.
  • Create a safe, positive, and growth-focused learning environment.

Essential Skills/Qualifications:

  • Single Subject Teaching Credential (CA preferred).
  • Bachelor’s Degree (required), Master’s Degree (preferred).
  • Experience working with high school students, specifically in teaching organizational skills or academic foundations.
  • Comfortable using technology, including Google for Education tools and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
  • Student-centered with strong collaborative and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for deepening every student’s consciousness of worth and widening their possibilities for their future.
Requirements:

Required Hiring Documents and Clearance:

OLP requires a cover letter, resume and application.

Upon hiring you will be required to submit proof of current (within 60 days) negative TB test or TB Risk Assessment Questionnaire, Background Clearance through LiveScan*, Valid CA Driver’s License, and provide all official transcripts.

*OLP will consider qualified applicants with a criminal history pursuant to the California Fair Chance Act. You do not need to disclose your criminal history or participate in a background check until a conditional job offer is made to you.
