Job Summary:

The Front of House Manager ensures the safety and comfort of all patrons and has the responsibility of supervising all ushers and volunteers. Front of House Managers coordinate with the housekeeping and security staff and should report to work one hour before the scheduled performance or rehearsal time.

DUTIES

• Review the advance on the show from the Berrie Center Operations Manager
• Ensure your shift is properly staffed and assign positions (ticket takers, ushers, greeters, will call)
• Introduce yourself to the stage manager or technical supervisor
• Check the lobby and bathrooms for cleanliness and take any concerns to the housekeeper on duty
• Familiarize yourself with any lobby set up (merchandising, concessions, special tabling)
• At 45-minutes before curtain, meet with ushers to review advance
• Open house when directed by stage manager or technical supervisor
• Address customer complaints
• Watch for patrons who may need assistance
• In case of emergency, or if any patron is injured or falls ill, contact Ramapo Public Safety at 201-684-6666
• Direct emergency evacuation of the theater when necessary
• Oversee the cleaning up theater after performance
• Secure the theater front-of-house
• File post-show report including any issues with Operations Manager
• Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

• High School diploma
• 1-3 years of previous house management experience required. Training in CPR and AED preferred.

• Ability to multitask.
• Ability to establish cooperative working relationships and coordinate with other professionals or public organizations that impact on assigned responsibilities.
• Excellent Customer Service skills.
• Front-of-house skills
• Must be able to work with a diverse population of artists, faculty, students, and staff.
