About This Position
GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Distribution Supervisor is responsible for the selection, training, supervision and evaluation of Distribution staff. Maintains assigned distribution processes, mailroom, warehouse, inventory, shipping/receiving, par levels, cart transporting, courier service and stocking in accordance with facility policies and procedures.
PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. *Screens, interviews and selects qualified personnel for department openings; directs and coordinates workload of employees; develops timely biweekly work schedules to meet both departmental and staff needs; completes/conducts thorough, timely and well-documented performance appraisals.
2. *Provides timely positive reinforcement and documents plans for improvement.
3. *Performs assigned staffs’ job functions in their absence as needed.
4. *Prepares vouchers and verifies all invoices related to mailroom and postage as assigned.
5. Problem solves invoices with receiving discrepancies and makes necessary adjustments as assigned.
6. Orients employees to department and work area; provides and coordinates training and development of assigned staff.
7. Assists with department quality assurance activities.
8. Communicates, promotes, administers and consistently follows facility policies and procedures.
9. Maintains department expertise through appropriate inservices and continuing education.
10. *Acts as a resource for department and facility staff concerning Distribution policies, procedures and products.
11. Maintains integrity of computer database; maintains proper documentation and distribution records; manages departmental forms inventory as assigned.
12. Assists Distribution Manager in the formation of department and capital budgets; monitors expense and documents justification of significant variances in staffing and/or expenditures.
13. *Assures departmental standards of operation and activities are in compliance with OSHA, DOT and other applicable regulatory agencies.
14. Facilitates and maintains Bryan Health online surplus inventory catalog as assigned.
15. Coordinates with Facilities Management and outside vendors to ensure all warehouse maintenance needs are met.
16. Assists Distribution Manager with developing and implementing department goals, policies/procedures and in planning/conducting department staff meetings.
17. *Maintains and updates daily staff assignment schedule; monitors and adjusts courier route for efficiency and to meet customer needs.
18. *Meets with area management/staff to review areas needs.
19. Routinely accesses locked storage areas (where drugs, IV solutions and contrast media are also stored) to obtain or stock supplies as pertinent to essential job functions in accordance with Medical Center procedures.
20. Performs other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. Knowledge of the principles and applications of inventory control.
2. Knowledge of basic accounting and budgetary practices.
3. Knowledge of management methods including planning, organizing, directing, coordinating and supervising the work of subordinates.
4. Knowledge of computer hardware equipment and software applications relevant to work functions.
5. Skill in the operation of applicable distribution and powerlift equipment.
6. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
7. Ability to plan, organize and assign work for self and others.
8. Ability to react and perform under stress and emergency situations.
9. Ability to problem solve and implement conflict resolution strategies.
10. Ability to effectively interact with customers and staff members from diverse backgrounds and having varied material needs.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalency required. Post-secondary education in General Business, Management or related field preferred. Minimum of one (1) year experience in management, inventory control and/or accounting required.
OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS:
Valid State of Nebraska drivers license required. Verification and maintenance of responsible driving record per facility standards required. Pallet Jack and fork lift certification required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
(Physical Requirements are based on federal criteria and assigned by Human Resources upon review of the Principal Job Functions.)
