About the Role:
The Laborer - Underground (Entry-Level) position is designed to support construction projects focused on underground infrastructure such as utilities, pipelines, and drainage systems. This role is critical in ensuring that excavation, trenching, and installation tasks are performed safely and efficiently under the guidance of experienced supervisors. The successful candidate will contribute to maintaining a clean and organized worksite, assisting with the handling of materials and tools, and supporting skilled tradespeople in various underground construction activities. This entry-level role offers hands-on experience and foundational knowledge in underground construction techniques, safety protocols, and teamwork. Ultimately, the position aims to develop a reliable and safety-conscious laborer who can grow within the construction industry and contribute to successful project completions.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including lifting, digging, and standing for extended periods.
- Basic understanding of construction site safety practices.
- Willingness to learn and follow instructions carefully.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
- Reliable transportation to and from job sites.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in construction or manual labor roles.
- Familiarity with underground construction terminology and processes.
- Basic knowledge of hand and power tools.
- Completion of OSHA 10-hour Construction Safety Training or willingness to obtain it.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with excavation and trenching operations by preparing and clearing work areas.
- Transport and organize construction materials, tools, and equipment on-site.
- Support skilled workers such as pipefitters, electricians, and masons during installation and repair tasks.
- Follow all safety guidelines and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the worksite to promote a safe working environment.
- Operate basic hand and power tools under supervision.
- Load and unload materials from trucks and storage areas.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth workflow.
