About This Position
Position Summary
Mass Lung & Allergy is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Biller to support revenue cycle operations and ensure accurate, timely claims processing. This role works closely with internal teams, insurance payers, and patients to resolve billing issues, manage collections, and maintain high standards of accuracy, compliance, and customer service.
The ideal candidate is analytical, dependable, and comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (no nights or weekends).
Key Responsibilities
Register and verify insurance for hospital, pulmonary function, sleep study, and nursing home claims
Review claims for accuracy and completeness prior to submission
Submit electronic and paper claims using billing software
Resolve clearinghouse rejections and correct claim errors
Follow up on unpaid claims, investigate denials, and submit corrections/appeals
Process patient statements and manage patient collections
Set up payment plans and monitor collection accounts
Handle collection agency requests and returned mail
Post ERA/EOB payments, including zero-pay adjustments
Run and monitor collection and billing reports
Assist patients with billing questions and account support
Maintain accurate documentation and billing compliance standards
Participate in staff/administrative meetings and quality initiatives
Support EHR/EPM system processes and workflow improvements
Perform additional duties as assigned to support revenue cycle operations
Qualifications
Strong written/verbal communication and problem-solving skills
Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and medical terminology
Experience with EMR/billing software and Microsoft Office
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work independently and within a team
Professional, dependable, and organized
Understanding of HIPAA and confidentiality standards
Ability to manage relationships with insurance payers
Education & Experience
High school diploma or GED required
2+ years Medical Billing experience preferred
CPC or coding certification preferred
EMR experience required
