DESRI (formerly D. E. Shaw Renewable Investments) is a market leading owner and operator of renewable energy projects throughout the United States. About the role
We are looking for a resourceful candidate to join DESRI, based out of the firm’s office in Hyderabad, India. The successful candidate will be a part of a small, inclusive, highly skilled team responsible for supporting DESRI’s portfolio of wind, solar and battery projects in an agile environment that values collaboration, thoughtful problem solving, and attention to detail.
What you'll do
In this role, you will support corporate functions such as HR, Finance, Admin, and other internal stakeholders to advise on legal and contractual matters across DESRI India’s operations, including:
- Reviewing, drafting, and negotiating a broad range of commercial agreements, including NDAs, vendor contracts, master service agreements, employment agreement, consultancy agreements, and other routine business contracts.
- Handling employment related legal work, including review and support on employment agreements, amendments, HR policies, and routine employment law queries in coordination with internal stakeholders.
- Providing general corporate legal support, including legal research, and advisory support on emerging and evolving legal and regulatory frameworks relevant to business operations.
- Maintaining and improving legal trackers, templates, playbooks, and document repositories to ensure consistency, efficiency, and audit readiness.
Qualifications
- A law degree with a strong academic record and 4-6 years of post-qualification experience in independently reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements, with sound judgment on legal risk and practical solutions.
- Strong grounding in general corporate advisory work, legal research, and contract support.
- Experience in law firms/mix of law firm and in-house.
- Strong attention to detail, sound legal judgment, and a solution-oriented mindset aligned with an in-house legal function.
- The ability to work with limited supervision, manage multiple matters in parallel, and adapt to evolving business and legal requirements.
