This role offers the opportunity to lead and integrate tax strategy across multiple products and business lines, ensuring compliance with client tax reporting requirements while supporting product design, launches, and operational readiness. The Product Tax Manager will partner closely with Engineering, Product, Finance, and Legal teams to embed tax considerations into product development and execution. This position requires managing complex information reporting processes, including 1099, FATCA, and CRS compliance, while evaluating tax implications of non-routine transactions. Candidates will also monitor regulatory developments, streamline processes, and provide actionable guidance to cross-functional teams. Success in this role depends on strong analytical skills, collaborative influence, and the ability to translate complex tax concepts into practical solutions. This is a high-impact, dynamic position that balances technical tax expertise with strategic product engagement.
- Serve as the primary Tax liaison for Product and Engineering teams, embedding tax requirements throughout the product lifecycle, from design review to operational execution
- Ensure accurate, timely client tax reporting in multiple jurisdictions, overseeing 1099, FATCA, CRS, and backup withholding processes, including remittance and reconciliation
- Document and communicate tax requirements for all products, collaborating with third-party tax consultants as needed
- Evaluate tax implications of complex transactions, including M&A, partnerships, and stock-based compensation
- Monitor regulatory changes and translate them into actionable guidance for product teams, finance, and legal stakeholders
- Identify pain points, implement process improvements, and leverage automation, AI, or other technologies to enhance tax operations
- Provide expertise and training to cross-functional teams to ensure consistent compliance and operational efficiency
Requirements:
- 8+ years of combined experience in public accounting, law firms, or multinational corporations, with at least 3 years in a Product-focused Tax role
- Proven ability to communicate complex tax and technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, including senior leadership
- Strong understanding of US information reporting requirements, indirect tax regimes, and relevant compliance cycles
- Experience managing third-party service providers and tax technology tools, including tax engines and software configuration
- High tolerance for ambiguity and ability to provide clear, actionable advice under rapidly evolving circumstances
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with experience fostering cross-functional collaboration
- Enthusiasm for leveraging emerging technologies, including AI and machine learning, to improve tax processes and reporting
