Position Purpose: Sun Community Federal Credit Union is in the people business. As a Branch Manager, you are responsible for leading the overall success of the branch by delivering exceptional, needs-based member experiences, developing high-performing teams, and driving operational and financial results.

This role oversees all aspects of branch operations, including member service, sales performance, employee development, and community engagement. The Branch Manager builds strong relationships within the community, identifies growth opportunities, and ensures alignment with Sun’s strategic priorities. Success in this role means creating an environment where employees thrive, members feel valued, and the branch consistently achieves performance goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop branch staff using Sun’s strength-based management approach.
  • Foster a high-performing, people-first culture focused on accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide ongoing feedback, training, and development opportunities to support individual and team success.
  • Address employee relations matters promptly, fairly, and in alignment with organizational values and policies.


Branch Operations & Performance

  • Oversee daily branch operations, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and exceptional member service.
  • Establish and execute business plans, financial goals, and performance metrics aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Monitor and manage branch expenses within budget.
  • Identify operational gaps and implement process improvements to enhance performance and member experience.


Sales & Member Experience

  • Drive branch sales performance by identifying opportunities to deepen member relationships and expand product usage.
  • Ensure delivery of consistent, high-quality member service across all interactions.
  • Resolve member concerns effectively, ensuring positive outcomes and long-term relationship retention.


Community Engagement & Business Development

  • Build and maintain strong partnerships within the local community to enhance Sun’s visibility and reputation.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for growth within the market.
  • Represent Sun Community Federal Credit Union at community events and networking opportunities.


Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Maintain high ethical standards aligned with Sun’s values and strategic vision.
  • Monitor branch activities to mitigate risk and ensure operational integrity.


Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Share best practices, insights, and market intelligence with leadership and other branches.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support organizational initiatives and strategic goals.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, competitor activity, and market conditions.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience

  • 2-year college degree, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of management experience in a financial institution or similar environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience managing a retail branch or similar business unit.
  • Experience building community partnerships and driving local market growth.
  • CUNA Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor (or similar certification)

  • Ability to analyze financial data, forecasts, and performance metrics.


Working Conditions

  • Work is performed in a standard branch office environment.
  • No hazardous or significantly unpleasant working conditions are typically present.
  • Position may require extended periods of sitting or standing while performing teller transactions and assisting members.
