TSINY, a non-profit Mental Health Services Agency seeks Night Counselor Supervisor for its Residential Program, located in Jamaica (Queens) NY.

Salary: $43,000 annually, $23.62/hr., (12am-8am)

Valid Driver's License Required

Position Summary

Responsible to ensure that all TSINY guidelines and procedures are followed during the 12am – 8am shift. Must also ensure the safety of the residents and staff. In addition, must provide supervision for all 12am – 8am counselors. Responsible for ensuring adequate coverage during this shift. Also responsible for crisis intervention and incident management.

Essential Functions

  • Read and initial Communication Book entries and follow up as indicated.
  • Be available to all residents and staff on an as-needed basis for crisis intervention, direction and support.
  • Communicate critical information to Administrator/supervisor (e.g., clinical, medical, safety, maintenance).
  • Receive and follow up on all phone and mail communications as needed.
  • Answer telephones and door as needed.
  • Assume medication/shift supervisor duties as scheduled/needed.
  • Conduct room checks as needed.
  • Ensure the safety and welfare of all residents.
  • Supervise kitchen activities, particularly during early morning hours to ensure safety, health and cleanliness.
  • Work collaboratively with all team members when implementing resident Service Plan goals.
  • Room checks and wake-up call as per program schedule.
  • Building checks Q2H throughout the night.
  • Car check and document - review car mileage books.
  • Ensure cleanliness of assigned staff offices and other public areas, i.e., bathrooms, recreation and living rooms.
  • Delegate staff assignments and follow-up to ensure all tasks are completed.
  • Coordinate staff "breaks" to ensure adequate coverage.
  • Meet with night counselor for supervision.
  • Update daily room check sheet.
  • Back charting.
  • Ensure organization of assigned charts (see chart upkeep responsibilities).
  • Participate in staff meetings.
  • Ensure the completion of bi-weekly time sheets.
  • Complete monthly chart audit reviews.
  • Update resident roster.
  • Prepare sign-in and out book for 12-8, 8-4 and 4-12 shifts (done by night supervisor).
  • Oversee the review of monthly medication sheets in comparison to previous medication sheets and medication vial.
  • Meet with supervisor for supervision with prepared agenda.
  • Prepare 12-8 schedule.
  • Prepare 12-8 job performance evaluations.
  • Complete Incident Reports and forward to Administrator.
  • Complete Status Change immediately and forward to IDF Director.
  • Escort/assist residents with securing financial benefits.
  • Assist residents in receiving medical and dental care (prepare medical/dental/psychiatric referral).
  • Escort resident to medical/psychiatric appointments/ emergencies.
  • Assist in the maintenance of physical plant to ensure safety, cleanliness, content and style.
  • Identify and communicate supply needs to Administrator (office, building, resident, maintenance, first aid, etc.).
  • Ensure safe and clean environment.
  • Document and track staff (12-8) lateness and absences.
  • Provide orientation to new employees for 12-8 shift.
  • Ensure TSINY forms in the file cabinet are adequately stocked (done by Night Supervisor only).
  • Meet with supervisor/administrator as needed.
  • Driver’s license required.
  • During a declared disaster, assume and adhere to assigned Job Action role(s) consistent with Disaster Preparedness Plan.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Experience/Education/Skills/Abilities

Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree plus one year’s experience or High School diploma plus two years’ supervisory experience in a mental health setting.
