As a Product Development Coordinator at Freshpack, you will work at the intersection of food science, culinary creativity, and real-world manufacturing, helping bring new products from concept to launch while ensuring they are safe, compliant, and consistently delicious.

We have an opening for a Product Development Coordinator to join our team. The Product Development Coordinator will support the Product Development team by executing key technical workflows across food safety, formulation, sensory, and regulatory documentation. This role will manage day-to-day technical tasks that accelerate innovation and enable successful launches as we expand into new product categories.

Freshpack is a custom cheese packaging company that develops and innovates cheese products and packaging. Our products can be found in all 50 states and in most major retailers. Over the past 25 years, our team has grown from 15 to 280+ employees. It is an exciting time to join our team, as we are poised for substantial growth over the next 3-5 years.

In this role, you will:

  • Help bring new products to life from concept through launch and scale-up
  • Solve real food challenges involving flavor, texture, shelf life, and food safety
  • Protect consumers by ensuring products are safe, stable, and compliant
  • Partner with suppliers, customers, and production teams to make great food happen at scale
  • Influence the quality and eating experience of products enjoyed by consumers every day

Responsibilities

  • Lead and participate in sensory programs to support development and shelf-life validation
  • Perform new item risk assessments and ensure HACCP and food safety compliance
  • Review and approve raw materials for functionality, safety, and regulatory alignment
  • Create and maintain FDA-compliant Nutrition Facts Panels and ingredient statements
  • Design and execute shelf-life and challenge studies, including microbiological and stability testing
  • Champion daily sensory evaluation of materials and finished goods for quality and consistency
  • Apply culinary intuition to evaluate flavor, texture, and overall eating experience
  • Serve as a primary contact for supplier and customer inquiries related to food safety and product quality
  • Troubleshoot formulations and support seamless scale-up from R&D to production
Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field (Dairy Science, Nutrition, Microbiology, Food Engineering, Culinary Science, etc.)
  • 2-5 years of experience in food manufacturing or R&D (dairy or refrigerated foods preferred)
  • Strong understanding of food safety, shelf-life validation, and regulatory labeling
  • Experience with Genesis or similar nutritional software
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Ability to multitask effectively
  • Knowledge of FDA labeling rules (21 CFR 101) preferred
  • Experience conducting or supporting sensory evaluation preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

Schedule

  • Flexible around normal business hours (1st shift M-F)
