About This Position

Summary of Position:

The Maintenance Specialist will be handling both electrical and mechanical related knowledge to test, diagnose, maintain, repair and modify current and new developments. Work will require operational machinery and control equipment and circuitry in facility. In-depth knowledge of various trades, performs a wide variety of electrical and electronic maintenance and mechanical service work on sophisticated electronic equipment, machines and/or controls.

EHS

Technical:

  • Manages inventory control of tools and spare parts
  • Reports input/output tasks for Preventative Maintenance Program and Co-manages the system
  • Inspects and checks equipment for proper operating condition, makes necessary adjustments, logs test readings, and maintains, repairs, or replaces all essential equipment parts
  • Performs quality control to ensure repairs and work is done correctly
  • Capable of working with outside contractors for trouble shooting procedures
  • Review and recommend approval of contracts and cost estimates
  • Knowledge on PLC programming
  • Research, evaluate, install, operate, and maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes to meet requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles
  • Working knowledge of current NEC, NFPA, ADA code compliance
  • Proficient in safe use of scissor and boom lifts and various types of ladders
  • Receives requests for emergency and unscheduled work and makes arranges for prompt services
  • Inspects work of employees for conformance to work plans and standard operation procedures.
  • Prepares reports, work orders and documentation as required.
  • Minimum of working knowledge of safe machine shop/tool practices
  • Read blueprints, hydraulic and pneumatic schematics, mechanical/electrical diagrams, and technical orders to determine methods and sequences of assembly
  • Align, fit, and assemble component parts, using hand tools, power tools, fixtures, templates
  • Operate metalworking machines to fabricate housings, jigs, fittings, and fixtures
  • Electric Welding skills are required
  • Review project instructions and specifications to identify, modify and plan requirements fabrication, assembly and testing
  • Confer with engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information
  • Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation, and to make recommendations
  • Oversee installation, operation, maintenance, and repair to ensure that machines and equipment are installed and functioning according to specifications
  • Perform preventative maintenance and calibration of equipment and systems
  • Identify and resolve equipment malfunctions, working with manufacturers and field representatives as necessary to procure replacement parts
  • Incorporate new methods and processes to improve existing operations
  • Troubleshoot new and existing product problems involving designs, materials, or processes
  • Review product designs for manufacture capability and completeness
  • Design, install, or troubleshoot manufacturing equipment
  • Plan and establish sequence of operations to fabricate and assemble parts or products and to promote efficient utilization
  • Plan and direct the installation, testing, operation, maintenance, and repair of facilities and equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned

The employee generally works in warehouse and indoor office environments but occasionally works out of doors, in all types of weather and on uneven terrain. Overtime may be required.

Position Requirements and Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in the electrical and/or mechanical maintenance field
  • Requires experience in electrical, mechanical, hydraulics, and pneumatics
  • Requires strong experience and knowledge with installation and maintenance work on industrial plant systems and equipment

Education:

  • Degree in technical field is preferred

Technical Skills Required

  • Requires a broad knowledge of controls and mechanisms
  • Proficient in PLC programming and troubleshooting
  • Experienced with robot programming and troubleshooting
  • Experienced with AC/DC drive motor operation, adjustment, and troubleshooting
  • Maintain working knowledge of state-of-the-art tools or software by reading or attending conferences, workshops or other training
  • Broad knowledge of OSHA and workplace environmental, health, and safety programs
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment, which includes being self-motivated, accepting responsibilities, completing assigned action items, and participating in a proactive manner in all team events.
  • Ability to successfully motivate the team, handle and delegate responsibilities, and listen to feedback.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
