Direct Support Professional (DSP)-Coos CountyPosition Summary

North Star Oregon LLC is seeking compassionate and reliable Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) in home, community, and day program settings. As a DSP, you will assist individuals in achieving their personal goals, promoting independence, and participating fully in their communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct support with activities of daily living (ADLs) including hygiene, dressing, mobility, meal preparation, and medication reminders.
  • Facilitate engagement in community-based activities, including recreational outings, appointments, and skill-building opportunities.
  • Promote and respect individual choice, dignity, and self-determination.
  • Support individuals with vocational, social, and life skills development in accordance with person-centered support plans.
  • Complete required documentation (e.g., progress notes, incident reports, attendance logs) accurately and timely.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive environment following agency policies and safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with families, guardians, and other care team members to ensure holistic support.
  • Respond to emergencies calmly and effectively, following individualized support and crisis plans.
Qualifications - Preferred
  • Prior experience working with individuals with I/DD or in caregiving roles.
  • Certification in CPR/First Aid and Oregon Intervention System (OIS) (or willingness to obtain).
  • Familiarity with Oregon-specific reporting and care standards for Medicaid-funded programs.

Requirements:

Qualifications - Required

Must be at least 18 years of age.

High school diploma or GED.

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Ability to pass a criminal background check through the Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS).

Basic computer literacy for electronic documentation and communication.

Physical ability to lift, transfer, and assist individuals as needed.
