Assistant Swim Coach - Part Time at Anthem Community Council Inc – Anthem, Arizona

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This part-time, variable- hour position is responsible for coaching swim teams. An Age assistant Coach will also monitor activities at the pool to prevent accidents, rescue swimmers in danger of drowning, caution swimmers regarding unsafe practices and safety hazards, maintain order in the pool and adjoining areas, administering first aid if needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Provides direction, motivation and skill development to swim team participants
• Regularly offers positive enforcement and encouragement to participants and/or parents
• Plans for and/or assist in planning practice drills
• Maintains a professional appearance, attitude and the highest levels of customer service at all times
• Must be able to attend most/all scheduled swim meets
• Maintains regular communications with Aquatics Manager about upcoming meets or events and the needs of the swim team
• Responsible for making practices schedules for each level
• Maintains a safe working environment, reporting all unsafe activity and conditions

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent, current Water Safety Instructor certification and USA Coaching certificate preferred.
• Experience: At least three (3) years of swimming experience and/or coaching background.
• Skill sets needed: Must have aptitude for detail, highly effective interpersonal and problem solving skills. Excellent communication skills are also required in for this position.
• Part Time hourly– Schedule is flexible and variable within our 7 day work week working mornings, afternoons, and evenings; some holidays, hours/schedules may vary. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
• Work location– Anthem Community Center – Lap Pool, 41130 N. Freedom Way, Anthem.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must be physically and intellectually capable of operating a personal computer, printer, facsimile machine, phone, and various other routine business equipment items.
• Ability to see well enough to read faint or partially obscured writing or printing.
• Must be able to speak, read and write English so that various types of communication may be conducted with people of various levels of education and capabilities both in person and over the phone.
• Perform physical activities (possibly for extended periods of time) that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, with a full range of motions including walking, sitting, standing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, twisting, bending, lifting, and carrying.
• Position requires the ability to exert minimal force of up to 20 pounds and occasionally up to 60 pounds of force to move objects.
• Ability to transport oneself around office, facilities, grounds, and the community.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Must remain alert to working conditions and aware of safety, health, and environmental concerns.
• Must be able to work effectively with a positive attitude and demeanor in an environment which may be stressful due to adversarial situations resulting from the proper performance of duties.
• Personal protective equipment (PPEs) to include proper footwear, headgear, and maintenance attire should be worn for protection as appropriate.
• This is a safety sensitive position.
