DESCRIPTION

This internship plays a hands-on role in supporting that mission—helping ensure the security, integrity, and resilience of our digital environment while delivering a safe and trusted experience for our members and employees.
Nature and Scope
This is a part-time summer internship for college students, working up to 20 hours per week based on business needs.
Interns will gain exposure to the fundamentals of cybersecurity within a financial services environment—including threat monitoring, data protection, risk awareness, and incident response. They’ll work alongside experienced professionals and gain visibility into how cybersecurity strategy is led and executed across the organization.
This internship is designed to build foundational technical knowledge while also developing professional skills such as critical thinking, attention to detail, and cross-functional collaboration. Interns will also gain insight into how cybersecurity integrates with other departments to support a secure and seamless member experience.
Specific Accountabilities
· Demonstrate Allegacy’s shared values: helpful, hopeful, honest, hungry & humble in all work and interactions
· Support the Cybersecurity team with day-to-day operational and project-based activities
· Assist with monitoring and analyzing potential security threats and alerts (as appropriate for skill level)
· Participate in cybersecurity awareness initiatives and help promote best practices across the organization
· Learn and apply basic cybersecurity principles, including data protection, access controls, and risk mitigation
· Collaborate with other departments to understand how security practices support overall business operations
· Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with the highest level of integrity
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
This role is best suited for students with an interest in cybersecurity, information technology, or information systems, particularly within a financial services environment.
Preferred qualifications include:
· Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking skills
· Interest in cybersecurity concepts such as network security, data privacy, and threat detection
· Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with technical tools or systems is a plus
· Strong communication and organizational skills
· Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a team
· Curiosity, initiative, and a willingness to learn
