Are you looking for an exciting summer opportunity to gain valuable skills and make a meaningful impact across Washington state's communities? Support Washington Dental Service as a Legal Intern and gain hands-on experience in legal research, contract law, and compliance work that enables the organization to scale and operate effectively. You will build a strong foundation in in-house counsel operations while developing key professional skills in a dynamic, collaborative environment.

Skills you will gain during the internship:

  • Practical experience in delivering legal services to support our dental benefits business, our technology services business, and other critical operations of Washington Dental Service and its affiliates.
  • Legal research and analysis focused on enterprise-wide initiatives, contract law, AI and data privacy trends, and other in-house legal topics.
  • Building meaningful connections with colleagues, mentors, and other professionals.

Washington Dental Service and its affiliates, including Arcora Foundation, Delta Dental of Washington, and TriForza, are committed to improving oral and overall health across Washington state and beyond. Guided by our vision, we succeed through our deep commitment to our shared OneTeam Values: accountability, courage, curiosity, inclusion, and integrity. Interns are expected to work during our standard business hours, which are from 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday. Interns are typically required to work onsite at our Seattle office every Tuesday, with the option for remote work on other days based on departmental needs.

We offer interns highly competitive medical, dental, and vision plans, along with a generous 401(k) plan, wellness dollars, and transportation reimbursement for commuting to the office. Interns also receive paid holidays, paid time off, and sick time throughout their internship.

Essential Responsibilities include the following: The list of responsibilities listed is not intended to be comprehensive. • Review various types of agreements for Washington Dental Service, identify required updates, and create updated templates as needed.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to draft policies and procedures related to legal support systems and documentation.
  • Assist with special projects by conducting legal research and preparing draft documents and memoranda as assigned.

The experience, skills, and education needed to succeed in the position are outlined below. These requirements are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform the essential functions of the role.
