General Description:
The Master Scheduler is responsible for developing, maintaining, and executing the master production schedule to support customer demand, operational efficiency, and on-time delivery. In a high-mix, custom manufacturing environment, this role balances capacity, material availability, and engineering changes while coordinating closely with production, supply chain, engineering, and sales teams.
This is accomplished through the following essential functions:
- Develop and manage the Master Production Schedule (MPS) based on customer orders, forecasts, and capacity constraints
- Align production schedules with material availability, labor capacity, and machine utilization
- Communicate clear and realistic delivery date commitments to Sales, ensuring alignment with capacity and material availability
- Collaborate with engineering, project management, and operations to incorporate custom builds, design changes, and priorities
- Drive on-time delivery performance (OTD) through proactive scheduling and issue resolution
- Manage and prioritize expedite requests, balancing customer urgency with overall schedule integrity
- Identify and resolve schedule conflicts, bottlenecks, and capacity constraints
- Recommend outsourcing or subcontracting options when internal capacity constraints impact delivery commitments
- Coordinate with procurement to ensure timely material availability and minimize shortages
- Maintain accurate data in ERP/MRP systems (e.g., lead times, routings, BOMs)
- Maintain and ensure compliance with ISO documentation and procedures related to scheduling and planning
- Lead S&OP / demand planning inputs and provide visibility into production commitments
- Monitor and report on key metrics (schedule adherence, lead time, backlog, WIP)
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance planning accuracy and efficiency

Job Requirements:
- Successfully complete a criminal background check.
- Regular and reliable attendance.
- Flexibility to work extended hours as business needs dictate.
Skills & Abilities:
- Experience in precision motion, automation, semiconductor, or contract manufacturing
- APICS certification (CPIM or CSCP)
- Familiarity with ISO standards and audit environments
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles
- Advanced Excel or data analysis skills
- Experience working with engineering change orders (ECOs) and custom builds
Work Experience & Knowledge Requirements:
- 5–10 years of scheduling or production planning experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong experience with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Epicor, or similar)
- Proven ability to manage complex, high-mix / low-volume production schedules
- Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, capacity planning, and inventory control
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally, especially with Sales and Operations
- Proficient with MS Office including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Management, or related field, preferred.
