Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree in accountancy, business administration, management, or a closely related field.
OR
2. Three (3) years (36 months) of work experience in accounting, business administration, fiscal management, or closely related experience.
OR
3. A combination of such education and/or work experience totaling three (3) years (36 months), as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
- 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
- 60 semester hours or an Associate's Degree equals eighteen months (18 months)
- 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)

Illinois Residency Requirement: Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System, out-of-state candidates must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of the start date for this position.

What You Will Do
- Facilitate the daily and long-term business operations of the Clean Energy Incubator and support the Program Director and Principal Investigator in achieving grant goals.
- Provide financial oversight and ensure integrity and compliance of the grant at all levels, including adherence to policies and procedures.
- Develop and manage the grant budget, track expenditures, and maintain accurate financial records and documentation.
- Support financial and payroll processes, including grant-related purchasing and maintaining payroll and human resources records for project team members, trainers, and partners.
- Share business expertise and guidance with Incubator staff, sub-award recipients, and external partners to ensure effective operations and compliance.
- Assist with industry data collection, analysis, and preparation of reports, and collaborate with internal departments and external stakeholders.
- Participate in strategic planning and implementation of policies and projects to support the overall success of the Incubator.
- Assist with other essential administrative, budgetary and financial duties to make the incubator successful

Preferred Qualifications:
- Thorough knowledge of accounting practices and procedures to perform complex duties.
- Ability to manage a budget and work within the constraints of that budget, following University and Agency policies and procedures. (*Previous University experience considered a plus)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, including the ability to interpret and explain work related documents.
- Ability to work independently with guidance from Program Director, but also work collaboratively with diverse team to support the mission.
- Ability to compile financial records and prepare routine financial reports or statements.
- Experience with accounting software, enterprise systems, Excel, Word, Outlook, and other business applications.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written. - Ability to effectively organize and prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to interpret and maintain compliance with policies and procedures, including fiscal officer responsibilities.
- Sensitive to the needs of underrepresented population
