Overview
Plans, organizes and directs the activities of the Community Business Banking Department. Primary areas of focus include Relationship Management, Portfolio Management and Business Development. As a member of the senior management team, participates in the formulation of the Bank's policies, procedures, and objectives. Performs any functions, within scope of authority and expertise, to provide the highest level of service and responsiveness to customers and co-workers.
Responsibilities
- Oversees the development and maintenance of the Bank’s community business banking loan portfolio on a profitable basis. Works closely with group officers and department underwriter to formulate high quality credit analysis to insure appropriate risk assessment and sound asset quality. Participates in joint calls as appropriate.
- Manages the coordination of the department’s loan origination, document preparation and portfolio monitoring technology with the Commercial Integration Manager. Responsible for the implementation, use, and knowledge base of the business credit scoring system utilized by the Bank. Acts as a Bank authority for all SBA lending programs for both origination and as a resource to other Bank lending staff.
- Develops and recommends department’s plan of organization and staffing. Selects and provides for the continuing development of subordinate business bankers and processing/underwriting staff. Conducts periodic performance reviews and provides for the ongoing guidance, training and direction to business bankers and processing/underwriting staff in developing and implementing plans and objectives.
- Carries out ongoing programs to promote relationship management, market visibility, and business development within the small business marketplace. Refers sales opportunities to other departments or bank affiliates in support of established objectives. Represents the Bank through participation in various community and industry related activities and presents to community and business groups on the topic of small business banking and SBA lending. Actively promotes interest in the Bank wherever and whenever possible.
- Develops short and long-range plans, strategies and policies. Collaborates with the Community Banking and Business Development teams in devising and implementing market action plans. Serves on designated management planning committees and remains alert at all times to competitor trends. Ensures full compliance and proficiency with the Bank’s internal policies and regulatory requirements. Performs related and unrelated duties as may be required.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in business administration or its equivalent plus specialized course work and training in lending, credit or related subjects is required
Work Experience
- 10+ years years of progressively responsible commercial lending and credit experience is required
- 3+ years years in a managerial capacity is preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Sound credit background.
- Able to analyze financial statements.
- Excellent analytical organizational, interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Strong sales ability and negotiation skills.
- Must possess at least intermediate technology skills, including knowledge of word processing, database and spreadsheet applications.
