Job DetailsDescription
  • Observes continuous operation of automatic machines to ensure that products meet specifications.
  • Measures and visually inspects products for cosmetic and dimensional defects to ensure conformance to specifications with occasional use of precision measuring instruments.
  • Positions and secures product on secondary equipment such as fixtures.
  • Removes finished or cured products from tray; uses hand tools, air hoses and other equipment; stamps identifying information on products when necessary.
  • Handles products, packs them in containers, and places containers in appropriate locations.
  • Trims excess material from parts, using trimming tools provided to ensure a clean\smooth surface.
  • Inventories and records quantities of scrap and finished products, request additional supplies as necessary.
  • Performs manufacturing tasks required in the creation of optical quality products using some or all of the following tools: eye loop, air knife, utility knife, air brush, stapler, nippers/shears, swivel knife, scissors, degater and any other tool found to be necessary in the completion of the product.
  • Maintains work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Communicates with MXL employees at all levels of the organization in a courteous, respectful and professional manner.
  • Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.
  • Conforms to all safety rules and uses all appropriate safety equipment.
  • Adheres to Quality Management System (QMS)

Specific:

  • QMS – It is essential to understand and follow all specific and relevant standard operating procedures (SOP’s), quality work instructions (QWI’s). It is essential to inform the shift supervisor, fellow production technicians, mold technicians or quality inspector/technician if there are any questions about the QWI or SOP for the task assigned.
  • Molding Press Operations: Handle parts created by a molding press. Inspect, trim, rout, and buff parts as required. Pack same parts while keeping written records of acceptable and unacceptable parts.
  • Coating Line, Loading Operations: Inspect and load products from carton to tray and the tray to a conveyor line. Perform rail changes.
  • Coating Line, Unloading Operations/Inspection: Remove products from the tray after the coating process is complete. Inspect, trim, and stamp parts as required. Pack same parts while keeping written records of acceptable and unacceptable parts.
    1. pulling the part from the hung coating tray, performing a visual inspection and removing the hang and drip tabs either by hand or use of degater
    2. stamping the product with automated stamp machine
    3. placing the product in plastic sleeve/bag
    4. placing the product in a box or carton and moving to next staging area
  • Assembly and Finishing: Can be various tasks including but not limited to inspection and manual assembly of multiple plastic components and packaging materials.
  • Routing and Buffing Wheel Operations: Secure product to the routing machine where the product is routed either manually or through automation. Holding product with hands and moving product along a buffing wheel to smooth edges.
  • Special Coating Operations: Clean and inspect parts to be coated. Secure or store product where required for various steps to include coating applications, annealing, curing, drying and finishing.
  • Reports unacceptable products to Mold Technicians, Quality Representatives, designated lead or trainer, and Supervisor as required.
  • Demonstrate a proper turnover/transfer of duties so that the production technician is always setting up each other’s success at shift-to-shift and break relief including:
    • Timely start and end to the workday as scheduled
    • Timely start and end to all breaks as scheduled
    • Effective communication of information at each transfer of duties
    • Proper housekeeping and stocking of supplies needed for task completion
  • Attend work as scheduled and be on time.
