IT Intern – Information Security
Job Description:
The IT Intern supports the Information Technology department by assisting with business analysis, documentation, and project coordination. This role provides exposure to IT systems, business processes, and enterprise applications. Interns will gain hands-on experience in requirements gathering, testing, reporting, and supporting IT initiatives while learning industry best practices.
Flexible work schedule around school schedule – M-F Days 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Work approximately 20 hours a week

Assist IT staff with requirements gathering and documentation.
Support application testing and issue identification.
Help prepare presentations, reports, and training materials.
Shadow IT professionals to learn business analysis, project management practice and IT operations.
Provide general support for IT projects and departmental initiatives.
Participate in site visits with senior staff to inspect IT assets, document findings and support security compliance.
Assist with vulnerability identification and tracking using approved tools to identify potential system weaknesses, log them in tracking systems, and monitor remediation progress.
Support secure PC and hardware disposal. Follow established procedures for decommissioning and disposing of hardware, including data sanitization and chain‑of‑custody documentation.
Assist with multi-factor authentication onboarding including helping new users enroll in multi‑factor authentication, provide guidance on Duo Mobile setup, and verification.
Support Proofpoint secure email account resets and configuration compliance.
Perform basic malware monitoring activities by running scans, reviewing alerts, and escalating suspicious findings to senior analysts for further investigation.
Identify vulnerable or outdated software and initiate remediation requests through service workflows. Identify outdated or insecure applications, document risks, and create service requests for remediation by appropriate teams.
Review firewall and DNS logs to identify anomalies and escalate potential threats to the security team.
Assist with IT support ticket management, including updating, tracking and closing tickets under supervision.

Currently pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or related field.
Basic understanding of IT systems, databases, or business processes.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Interest in IT, business analysis, or project management.
Interest in Healthcare IT.
