About This Position
Minds in Motion Initiative is a non-profit 501c3 organization that supports individuals with traumatic brain injuries (TBI) in the Salem area live the way they choose. We desire a Recreational Therapist to join our team and help us develop recreational programming for those we serve and train and coach our staff in how they can provide better holistic care through recreation.

We're looking for a candidate with the following qualifications:
- Certification in Recreational Therapy
- Able to work independently and in teams.
- Experience working with people who have a diagnosis of Acquired Brain Injury preferred
- An attitude of "Nothing for them, without them"
- Able to partner with clients in order to develop a person driven recreational plan
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Creative
- A strong interest and ability in developing programs
- Administrative acumen is a plus.
- A person who listens well.
Responsibilities
- Development and implementation of therapeutic recreational activities which can empower those we serve towards achieving greater independence.
- Coaching direct care staff in supporting therapeutic activities throughout the day.
- Participate and potentially lead team meetings.
- Co-facilitation of Support Groups
- Planning recreational activities and multi-day excursions.
- Maintains effective communication and good human relations with clients, families, and staff.
- Helps the team "Have Fun!"
- Complete in-service education in order to keep informed of current trends in the total care.
- Assists with assessment of individual activity and ability levels.
- Other duties as assigned.
Hours of Work
- This position is a full time 1.0 FTE exempt position.
- Flexibility of evening and weekend work as appropriate for the therapeutic plan
