The Opportunity

Det-Tronics is looking for a highly capable and motivated Electronics Commodity Manager to own supplier relationships, performance and spend on electrical components, PCBAs and electromechanical subassemblies. Commodity managers are expected to partner with purchasing, quality, engineering, operations and product management to ensure our suppliers adhere to the highest standards in quality, service, pricing and capabilities to meet Det-Tronics’ rapidly growing needs. This role will also support high visibility projects aimed at improving Det-Tronics’ supply chain resilience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops, justifies, executes and maintains sourcing strategies that align with company priorities.
  • Performs regular market analysis with respect to global commodities pricing, exchange rates, international trade implications, labor rates, new technologies or processing methods, etc. to ensure market leading total cost of ownership.
  • Regularly evaluates and reports out on supplier risk and performance to ensure the supply base is healthy and performing to necessary standards. Develops and executes supplier improvement initiatives as needed.
  • Ensures supply continuity through implementation of master supply agreements, blanket agreements, stocking agreements, etc.
  • Regularly visits with strategic and critical suppliers to improve and maintain relationships
  • Participates in cross-functional NPI, sustaining and resilience initiatives. Leads and drives the sourcing functions.
  • Maintain awareness of constraints affecting production output and leads initiatives to maintain supply continuity
  • Other duties as assigned

What You Bring

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, operations or logistics management, engineering, or other related technical degree and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in an industrial manufacturing environment. Bonus points for experience with metal castings, machining, tooling, and finishing.
  • Ability to read and interpret the basics of electrical prints, schematics, and other associated files.
  • Strong analytical and PC skills including excellent working knowledge of MS Office Suite of products.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral presentation and written communication skills; professional presence and behavior.
  • This role will require international travel up to 30% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience and in-depth knowledge of PCBA development and working with, or for EMS providers.
  • Advanced negotiation training.
  • Familiarity with JD Edwards ERP and ARAS PLM software.
  • Understanding of total cost of ownership, MRP/ERP, inventory control techniques, forecasting, and make vs. buy analysis.
  • APICS certification a plus
