Job Title: Radiation Therapist
Location: Sinai Hospital, Baltimore City, MD
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
Type: Full-time
We are seeking a Radiation Therapist to join our dynamic oncology team at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore City, MD. The ideal candidate will be proficient in performing CT simulation procedures, managing patient flow, ensuring radiation safety, and delivering excellent patient care. This role will include the timely performance of all radiation therapy procedures and the management of patient care during treatment, including scheduling, communication, and troubleshooting during machine downtime.
Key Responsibilities:-
CT Simulation and QA: Perform all CT simulation procedures, including quality assurance (QA) of equipment, CT acquisition, and transfer of data to the planning team. Ensure the accurate transfer of coordinates to LAP lasers. Document checklist items, such as orders, consent forms, and insurance authorization before procedures.

Scheduling and Coordination: Demonstrate proficiency and accuracy in scheduling radiation therapy procedures, including CT simulations, verifications, and new treatment starts. Communicate changes to all relevant teams (e.g., scheduling, patient access, nursing, and patient).

Radiation Treatment Administration: Ensure safety and accuracy in the administration of radiation treatments, including reviewing orders, treatment plans, images, and performing linacs QA. Follow all safety protocols, including double identifiers on all patients for treatments.

Patient Safety & Comfort: Manage patient safety and comfort, including lifting/transfers on and off treatment couches. Fabricate and conform immobilization devices for accurate patient positioning. Educate and reassure patients during unplanned machine downtime or delays.

Image Acquisition & Selection: Demonstrate competency in the acquisition of images using kV, mV, and CBCT, ensuring optimal image selection per the physician’s orders.

Radiation Safety Procedures: Consistently follow radiation safety procedures, including handling and securing isotope sources. Ensure accurate billing for radiation treatments according to current guidelines.

Block-Making & Equipment Handling: Perform block-making in the mold room, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and proper cleanup. Create accurate, functional block molds for therapeutic radiation treatments.

Documentation & Audits: Complete all required chart audits, daily documentation, and quality checklists in a timely manner. Perform weekly chart audits to confirm documentation for radiation plan care.

Work Environment & Equipment: Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment. Ensure adequate supply inventory and alert the Chief Therapist for any equipment repair or replacement needs.

Patient Care Support: Seek additional support from physicians, nursing, or social work as needed to manage patient care. Follow emergency procedures as defined for the cancer center.
Education:

Associate’s Degree in Radiation Therapy or related field.

Graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy Technology Program.
Licenses & Certification:

Radiation Therapist License: Current Maryland license or eligibility to obtain Maryland license.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Demonstrated ability to manage patient flow during treatment and communicate effectively across departments.

Proficiency with radiation therapy equipment and treatment planning systems.

Ability to perform all safety procedures associated with radiation therapy and patient care.
